I only payed an hr or so, but in that time, I never experienced anything that made me feel I needed to reduce aa or af for example, so no exaggeration on my part, but by all means tell yourself you've saved the world.
AMD seem set on losing as many customers as possible, either by releasing slow and cheap CPU's, or GPU's that are reasonably powerful, but cost disproportionally more than what they replace.
6850...I run Crysis1 at 1920x1200 4aa+16aa all ENTHUSIAST settings.....so at 1440x9 you'd get incredible FPS from a 6850 on just about any game.
I got the Sapphire 6850, this is a quiet card, won't break 80c even in 30c room temps, and has only a 6 pin connector.
It will be, and then they'll go broke.
We really need some of the big CE co's to buy this lot out so we can get some proper competition and pricing.....but AMD atm is a joke.
Oh come on TROLL, go back to your consoles, get a better job, for christsakes, it's almost like you think these companies should aim to suit the consumer!!!!!!!
Please do not post these kinds of over-the-top negative comments...it is inflammatory and needless.
Take some time to familiarize...
As I said, this card is only twice as fast as my 6850, but I think they'll try and charge 4x as much.
The only good news about this card is at least it's noise and temps are good, often one has to wait for AIB to improve upon that.
Great point, the 79xx's don't apply to most people, the X2's won't either, so I guess the bulk of gamers will be able to enjoy some rebadged 78xx's.
Good to see AMD really catering to it's existing customer base.
Hey look, if AMD want to bypass their existing customers as a 2012 strategy, then fine by me, I'll either completely avoid their product or buy from their competitor.

jensunhuang on AMD 2012 strategy......."we'll let them keep doing what they're doing lately and we'll dominate market share......ha, if AMD keep this up, I'll fire my own marketing staff as I'll have no need for them".
Outstanding intellectual contribution to the topic.
I am responding to a backlog of reported-posts, my apologies for the lack of timeliness on this mod comment.
You and maddie are baiting each other into a needless altercation. Please avoid this kind of inflammatory hyperbole and rhetoric...
Don't want a X2 if I can avoid it, and I can easily afford any GPU on the market, but I want it to be relative to the cards of the past.
Anyway, AMD, can launch slow and hexy GPU's in small numbers, and 0.0002% of the PC gaming market will be over the moon.
Don't buy those old hot and heavy hunks of junk....get a 6850, especially with a lowly C2D 2.3.....6850 is quiet, not much slower than a 5870, and only one 6pin plug.
Even though my Sapphire dual slot is a marvel of efficiency, I can't fit another one in my HAF as I have a HDTV tuner and sound card in there.
I could however fit a dual/triple slot single card with 100% more power than the 2 yr old 5870 for $500-$600....unfortunately, doesn't sound like AMD...
All console ports, I doubt my old 4850 would break a sweat on most of those games, FEAR2 was fully maxed on my 4850, so I suspect F3 to be about the same.
I beg your pardon:whiste:....but I'm looking for a compelling reason to upgrade my PC for gaming, and it's looking like not only will AMD not be offering much power, but are going to charge an arm and leg, I guess the only saving grace could be extreme efficiency enabling the use of XF without...
Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie, and whilst it's not the best looking BD I've ever seen, it looks quite beautiful at times, and they did a fairly convincing job with the setting, but the movie was "fuckin wit us"......not to worry, Deniro's performance seems better each time I view it.
We'll have to see, but what I like about the idea of approx 100% more performance than a 6970 is that I could buy a 2500k, 16gig ram and a 7970 and live happily ever after for presumably a long time, ie, the whole PC would be a good mix of powerful components, whereas a 6950/70 could easily be...
First up, I like the movie regardless of whether or not it's partly or wholly illogical, so this is moreso out of curiosity and convenience{the net} that I'm raising these questions.
I haven't finished re-watching yet, but there's plenty of things I'm curious about, for example does the...
