P4 Help...Abit BL7 or Asus P4B?

I agree with the Asus P4T-E recommendation; sure it's a bit pricey and RAMBUS memory isn't cheap either, but you'll have an extremely stable, very easy to configure system that certainly hauls along very well in my opinion. Personally, I love my P4T-E and think it's an excellent choice for a P4...

XP scanner software

Doesn't WinXP have generic drivers for your scanner? My dinosaur Astra 1220U has a basic scanning interface available from XP anytime I plug it in, although I miss having the handy UMAX copy utility and light-off application in my system tray (why the devil don't scanners have off switches anyhow?)

P4 478 Motherboard upgrades

For what it's worth, I just made my first P4 system and used the Asus p4T-E (RDRAM) and it's simply the most stable and easiest to use motherboard I've ever owned. Sure it's pricey, but my performance with 512MB RAM, P4/1600 is amazing.
