I'll also add in lack of advertising in typical Sega fashion. Sega had Visual Concepts (now 2K sports) putting out kickass sports games and didn't even have a clue.

Yes, they are worth it and I regret the day I sold off my Open Air AD700s had I know the AD700x would be a downgrade. For the AD700s I had, very comfortable and solid soundstage for the price.
