Good Guys stores closing

Good riddance to ?Good Guys.? Years ago, they had answering machines on sale with an extra 10% for a certain brand. I went to the store and found only one of that brand. They refused to give me the extra 10% (only $5) and the manager yelled at the clerk because ?I told you to keep these off...

I have access to a Toshiba employee sale this Saturday...

Toshiba makes all of the above types. I would stay away from Plasma because of their price and that the current ones lose their brightness over about 2-3 years. They will end up being very dark. The DLP units they anounced for the new model year look interesting.

As a general rule, all ATA (IDE) drives support the standard under which they were made as well as all earlier versions of the ATA standard. In other words, newer drives will work at whatever is the standard of your system.

So California - Costco Gas $1.51 reg and $1.62 premium -

Thank goodness that Costco doesn't get gas from ARCO. Here in Cailfornia, ARCO has a high percentage of alcohol in it. They do this because it burns 10% cleaner....it also gets 10% poorer mileage so it is all an exercise in foolishness.

WIN98 bootup hang

WIN98 bootup hang

I just reformatted my hard drive and reinstalling my stuff. Half the time, Windows 98 (first edition) will not completely boot. No harware has changed and it is the same copy of WIN98 that I had before. Bootlog reports that it does not load the fonts. Safe mode boots fine. Thanks for any help.

IDE cable connecting question

It does matter when using a ATA66 or 100 cable. The blue connector is for the motherboard. The black is for the master drive and the grey is the slave connector.

Which case for KT7?

The most efficient solution for me was a $28 computer show mid tower case. I then replaced the power supply with the $37 Antec PP-303X.

CD-RW not recognized by Win98. _Please_ help!

Double check the CMOS Bios setup and the Master/Slave jumpers. I recently ran into the problem of a drive showing up in device manager but not in explorer. A simple oversight of a jumper change was the culprit.

Pretty big promo in CompUSA and Staple
