Totally agree !!! 2 years ago I listened to a demo of the Sasha, Alexia, and the Alexx. What a waste of a day that was. After reading all the reviews and hearing all this praise about how awesome these speakers are...total disappointment. I would compare them to a set of studio monitors. Too...
Yup went ahead and bought em.....got home got yellled at. Wife was not happy. That's the argument I said too "couldn't pass up the deal, total steal". She didn't care. Oh well. Got them set up next to my Paradigms. Gotta say they sound great. Good full midrange. Built in sub is ok but doesn't...
Hey guys just wanted a little info from any Def Tech owners. A co-worker is selling a pair of the ProTower 400 for $220. I know they are an older model he bought them in 2001. Im not to familiar with the Def Tech brand but reading some reviews they have good ratings. I really don't need anymore...
I did the same thing with Charter. Dropped their "package" and only use internet. But by doing that the price for only internet went up and I'm only saving $28 by not having cable. Kinda sucks in my area because Charter is all we have..well if you consider the phone companys DSL which is a joke.
Oh don't forget these http://www.reddragonaudio.com/products/cable-elevators when you install those expen$ive cables .......:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Read the description of these things. I'm almost embarrassed posting the link. OH my JChrist on that same website they have a $230 power...
Yup the warranty goes by the mfg date NOT the date of purchase. Found that out the hard way. Had three 4tb drives fail. Contacted Seagate. They basically told me to go pound sand cause drives were out of warranty.
Another vote for cell phone. My kids and I are using old phones connected via wifi to my Serviio server. Perfect way to repurpose old phones instead of throwing them away.
First thing I would say is PSU. What brand is your PSU? Can you move your PC to another outlet? Maybe a bad ground? What other peripherals are on that PC ? WiFi..Bluetooth? List your components to give us a better idea.
I personally have never spent more that $12 on any cables..HDMI, SPIF, RCA...etc. Ran tons of them thru walls and have never had any problems with them. I usually get them from Monoprice. If spending $25 on a cable makes you feel better then great. :D
So true I bet in a blind A/B test most people couldn't tell the difference between on board audio vs sound card. Majority of it is all mental. If you spend a lot of $$$ on something it has to be better..right? :sneaky:
Also true "Audiophiles" would scoff at the fact that your listening to...
Thanks for all the info. Gonna download Acronis, Macrium and Clonezilla tonight and mess around with them. He picked up a Sandisk X400 512gb. Not sure if it comes with any software or not.
My son wants to upgrade the 500 gb harddrive in his Dell laptop to a 500gb ssd. He would like to be able to clone the hidden recovery partition as well. Any suggestions?
ELAC is getting great reviews for their speakers. They like the Pioneers are designed by A.J. Or look for a used pair of Paradigm Atoms, PSB image mini, or B&W 685
Where the hell do you people live? Lighting strikes taking out TV's left and right. In my 42yrs I have never seen or known of anyone having lighting strike their house. But if it did most houses here have sufficient grounds.
So basically you want to build a file server. Something like Unraid or freeNAS. The requirments for these builds aren't too demanding. Unless you got a lot VM's going or decoding 1080p streams. Low power I3 should handle that.
Unraid
freeNAS
It might just be me but when I listened to an A/B comparision between stock MB audio and a FiiO DAC with AKG headphones I really wasn't that impressed. It wasn't night and day. The sound was different but not better. But hey that just my opinion. If you wanna spend the $$$ then go for it.
Are there any setting on the TV to rename or change the input? I got a Sony LCD from a co worker and the only way my HTPC would work was on input 2. Plus I had to change the input name/type. It gave the options of cable, game, DVD, aux and PC. If I set it to anything other than PC it would...
