I agree with you in that I am not an expert in networking and don't know the technical details (or anything) behind the server infrastructure. I, like others, use "netcode" as a "catch-all buzzword" because how else am I going to describe how the game operates online with a single word? I assume...

it's not just me. these problems are widely known and recorded. the netcode is wonky and the tick rate is 10 hz like someone else mentioned. if you don't notice it, great, but it certainly isn't me or the servers I'm playing on. the shooting in the game is very erratic and inconsistent.

there are netcode issues whether you notice them or not. damage is often highly delayed and very random. I liked bf3 but stopped playing because I just got so sick of the inconsistent shooting. there are tons of youtube videos displaying insta non headshot deaths and receiving damage after...

Just a fyi but no, the game is region locked (at least it was last time I played over a year ago). With the NA version, you'll only play with people on that server. There was a lot of complaining about this when the game was released.

actually, as far as single player fps's go, halo was and is a very good game. it was not technically impressive as an xbox port, but it was a very good fps. just because it was successful on the xbox shouldn't take away from that. halo, fear 1, and hl2 are probably still the best single player...

this is exactly it and why I have assumed for so long there has been no hl3 as of yet. Valve definitely doesn't just want to release another good half-life game like episode 2. they want to create another revolutionary game and would probably release nothing before they released another game...

a lot of cfls seem to not last long if you shut them on and off a lot (like in a bathroom). the cfls in my house that have lasted for years are the ones that just get turned on and left on all evening.

I understand what you mean, but you never see where the female judge is shot. She just drops to the ground. And if you pay attention, all the bullets that pierced Lex came out of his neck and arm where there was no armor. Judges are highly trained so she may have known what she was doing...

depends on the cost of gas vs electric in your area on whether or not they're "free". most places it's cheaper to heat with gas than electricity, though at least the energy goes into making you more comfortable. incandescents are brutal in the summer though, unless you like sitting in the dark...

Yes, I've noticed it's generally harder than it was when I played it last a couple years ago. Advanced is pretty difficult now and my group was getting wiped repeatedly in it. Before it seemed like advanced was pretty easy and expert was extremely hard. The difficulties seem a bit more balanced now.
