that works for a desktop icon, what I'm talking about is the button along the taskbar that appears WHEN THE APP LAUNCHES - not the square button on the Quick Launch toolbar either, but the rectangular one with right click menu Restore Move Size Minimum Maximum Close Thanks

What's the deal with Windows directories readonly and grayed out?

No, but now I did [had to uncheck Simple File Sharing, but that showed the Security tab]. All the current files show all permissions. I cant go back to the previous install, so now it's just an exercise in curiosity. Oh well. Thanks

Last night I could not upgrade SpyBot - it got to the Plugins directory and said it could not deal with the 4 dll's - "access denied". In unix that generally means permissions. But there were no ReadOnly checkboxes checked. So I wondered if the directory was the issue and it was checked...

Havent used spybot for a long time, so I went to update and my 1.5.2 was being updated to 1.6.2, and when it got to where it was doing the dll's in the Plugins directory each one complains "access denied". Sure enough, the Plugins dir has that kind of ReadOnly checkbox that is visibly checked...

WinXP Shutdown installs update??

ok, thanks. I just never saw it before, and there was no option to "Install Updates and Shutdown". I just went to the Start button, Turn Off Computer, and Turn Off from the popup window. All set
