CD-Rom Probs...

Seems to be working fine in XP now that i changed the IDE cable but '98 is still up to its old tricks. Anymore ideas??

Changed the IDE cable and its gotten better. Maybe a bad cable, still taking awhile to load or recognize but havne't had a problem like it was. May give it a day or so to see how it goes.

Thats the problem, it won't get to that point many times. When it actually recognizes a cd, it does what its supposed too. When I put a cd in 95% of the time it just spins and spins in the cdrom, while the light on the cdrom blinks like its trying then it eventually locks the computer up...

In XP right now and ya it shows the drive in XP, device manager says there isn't any conflicts with the device either just fyi

CD-Rom Probs...

Have a Creative 5230E 52X CD-Rom. The problem is it decides to read cd's whenever it wants. If I insert a CD it may read it, and if it does upon ejecting it and putting it back it, it won't recongnize anything. This does this with Audio and Data cd's. Running both XP, and 98 with an Epox...

Most realalistic Racing Game

GT3 rocks. Graphics kick arse, most realistic game I've ever played. However the lack of black marks in burnouts and spins takes away from the game some. But we can't get too picky

Woah.. just gave some blood for the first time

Some peole have it and some don't. I know when I gave blood last, i got woozy also. Could be a million different reasons why. Immune system low, getting sick, didn't eat enough the day before...etc... Just be glad its over and you'll be fine.

What is more severe, a first degree burn or a third degree?

What degree would this be? I shave my head pretty regurlaly. Over this summer, as an umpire for my city's softball league, i burnt my head pretty severly. Was outside for probably 6 hours, with constant sun. My head blistered and oozed $hit for a week and a half. I looked like the leapord...

Yes pray you talk to a nice person. My roomate works at my ISP and works in tech support. He's told me of some stories like yours. Many many techies at places are c#cks and say they can't help.

Does Jiffy Lube suck? [updated]

I've used jiffy lube before, many times actually. I guess it depends on where you come from, are the people there honest??? I trusted the people that did mine, hometown people, and knew a couple of them from school and football. Still have the car, and got it 3 years ago so they didn't do...

Im running in 32bit color but my desktop along with my start menu looks like 16 bit or less

Sometimes when i change mine from 16 to 32 its looks weird and the icons turn a little yellow. I just leave mine at 32 bit.

why is my athlon xp so hot?

don't think any athlon is supposed to get over 50-55 C. I know they run normally hot but damn, mine is low 40's with the max strain on it.

Don't let the dogs fight it out. From experience, you let it go to long and try to intervein, you'll get yours. When a dog is in the "fighting" mood they don't just quit in a heart beat. Letting the dogs fight will only show the dogs its ok to just attack whatever it wants when it feels...

I need help finding a new TV

I think my parents bought a 35 or 37" Sony Trinitron a few months ago and its an awesome TV. I'd recommend the Sony but don't know the real technical adv. and disadvantages of each.

Is there any way to teach a dog to fetch if he has no desire to do so?

I've tried to teach my dog to fetch before. I'll throw the toy, and he'll chase it just fine. But when he gets to it, he just sniffs it and looks around dumb founded. I've got step 1 of the 2 step process down. Just need to work on the return part.
