For me, I just switched to Win 7. :) But still maintain some WinXP boxes.

I prefer partitioning. As has been said, I can reinstall the OS without issues. I can backup my data more easily. And if you are worried about the moving target of partition size, there are several utilities that will resize your partitions without loss of data. I use EASEUS Partition...

AHCI AFTER Win7 INSTALL?!

A question, what happens if you go the Registry Edit (or run the MS utility) and then NOT run AHCI? I assume that the driver will be enabled, but just not used?

Looks like HDD prices are going down?

Or for those of us who have been around a LONG time, $5000 for 5MB. Yes, that is right, FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS for 5 MEGA bytes. But not as good as the $59.95 each for 1 TB drives I paid a couple of years ago.

Moving SSD and HDD system data to one SSD

Are you planning on partitioning the bigger SSD? If so, just copy the HDD to the partition on the SSD. If not, you may have to reinstall some programs (typically no loss of settings) or at least change pointers. Some drive utilities have the ability to "move" programs and pointers.

An update, while rebooting, I noticed when the POST does the drive listing and RAID information, there is a line that says AHCI BIOS Not Installed.
