Well, I'm certainly not going to use my personal email address for the some 12 or 15 forums I subscribe to. If I can't use yahoo or hotmail, what do people recommend?
Thanks very much,
Kirsten
I just tried to switch my email profile from my netscape address to a hotmail address and anandtech replied with a ban.
If hotmail.com is banned on anandtech... what free email servers are available?

If the SCSI device manufactures want to charge 3x per gig what IDE charges then they become a marginal industry. That was their choice. It's just all pure profit! There's no way their costs are 3 times as much as IDE. Probably Adaptec had some to do with the whole charade. Apple tried to stick...
The graphic shown on googlegear is that of an ATI fan. I assume it is the sapphire fan though that is quieter. Can anyone confirm that?
Thanks,

From what I can ascertain the 3 flavors of linux that are suitable for Windows converts are Xandros, Lindows, and Lycoris... I'm going to try all 3 of them. I'll install Lindows today and will report back. I'll delete my former Xandros installation which had great useability and sharp fonts etc...
I just downloaded and installed Xandros. All I can say is you Linux people must like very slooooooo operating systems. Clicking on the XFM file mangager took 3 or 4 seconds whereas my WinXP installation on the same puter is instantaneous. Maybe I''m doing something wrong but everything I did...
I'm going to try linux for the first time since I just built a new machine and I want to try it out on my old machine. So which distro is the most friendly for a former Windows person?
Lindows,
Lycoris
Xandros
Thanks...
I was in Magnolia Hi-Fi the other day and was looking at the Panasonic 52 inch DLP. The salesman was saying that he wished that computer video cards like the radeon had gone firewire out instead of DVI out so that the DLP's would have firewire in. He seems to think that firewire was better than...
Good suggestion worms...that did help a lot but now that I have the feed going directly from the RTV to the TV I've lost the ability to play divx movies off my computer thru my A/V receiver... arrrggghhh.
Oh well... time to get a new HDTV with multiple inputs!
Hi all, well I took the plunge and did this deal today and hooked it up this afternoon. Here are my findings:
First I hooked up the replayTV to my cable box and then the outputs to the TV. Then I connected an ethernet cable to my 8 port HUB.
Setup comes up on your tv as soon as you turn on the...
I'm just starting to do some research to decide which PVR to buy. My friend who has the satellite tivo raves about how clear it is since there is no digital to analog conversion. If you have a satellite feed does this replaytv unit have a digital input for that?
Thanks...
Here is the link for the MB info.

It looks like a great board. Wonder why they still put serial and parallel ports on these MB's ... seems that it would be better to offer more USB ports (USB 2.0) or something in place of these legacy ports on the board. People that have legacy equip...
unihorn,
So you bought it at B&B Staples and then got the rebate from the website? I wonder if they have any at my Staples B&M?
Please let us know how the quality is once you've set it up.

Some good tips in this thread. Here are my tips. First, if you have a friend at a bank get them to give you the "actual" invoice of the car you want to buy. They finance the dealers inventory and they all have a book listing the "real" invoice that they loan against. With...
Anyone else do this deal? This is what I'm looking for ... a machine that does mp3, vcd, and svcd in addition to DVD... I'm in Seattle ...guess I call the store and see whether they'll do it...
Thanks,
Kirsten
