Thanks for all of this info Kaido! I have been reading up on the Wink hub a bit recently and it seems you are going to be one of the first early adopters for this so I'm really interested to hear your comments on it! :)
Equiso posted this video on their FB page of someone hooking it up for the first time, it should help some of the first time users: http://youtu.be/_5jVHIXRZ3Y
This might be a dumb question but did you plug in the USB Dongle into the USB port on the Equiso and there is a button on the Equiso as well, not too sure what it's for, but maybe it's for pairing with the remote?
The Equiso Smart TV have started shipping and arrived to several people already. I received mine today, I'm at work so I'm just charging the remote, I'll play with it a bit more when I get home :)
It also needs USB for power as well or a USB to power adapter/cable. If I remember correctly it uses MicroUSB so you should be able to use a smartphone charger that is microUSB as well.
I used to be all about XBMC but now it's all about the ease of use and centralization of Plex for me. I've been using it for over a year on different devices (settled on several Samsung BD-D5300 Blu-Ray players as Plex clients).
I'd have to agree with Rio Rebel regarding the Onkyo HTIB. I have the HT-S3400 and it sounds great and my friend has the HT-S3300 which is great as well. They are just the previous years version of the HT-S3500.
I have a 50" 720p Panny Plasma that is coming up on 3 years of use with no burn in and still looks great. I purchased a 46" 720p Panny Plasma from Best Buy black friday last year for $400 and it's been going strong as well. I'm extremely pleased with Panny's plasmas. That being said I also...
http://www.plexapp.com/getplex/ seems to explain it all pretty well along with nice screen shots and all. It was originally built from XBMC so it's somewhat similar but in many situations (including my own) it's a much better solution :)
Could still be a power supply issue. I've seen a PS cause a whole bunch of funky issues on a PC in the past. It's unfortunate you don't have an extra one. If you have somewhere locally that has a decent return policy on them you can give that a shot.
Regarding the HDD since it's a WD I would...
For pre-built I would look at HP Business. SFF PC's like the 6005 Pro & 6000 Pro normally carry a 3-year warranty through HP and you should be able to fetch one for fair inexpensive. You might just need to add a cheap HDMI video card like a 5450 or 6450 in there. They also usually offer nice...
I would get down to the bare basics.
1. Remove all RAM except for 1 stick.
2. If your mobo has onboard video take out your video card as well.
3. If you happen to have a spare PS that would be a good thing to try as well.
