Love the Staples easy rebates! I picked up a Netgear WGR614 wireless router for $10 and some photo paper. I wish I had know you could get up to 10 of the routers and 2 boxes of the paper under the same rebate!
Just purchased this from CC yesterday $81.89. They gave me no hassle price matching with Sams but said the in store rebate may not go through. $51.89 still isn't bad!
I am doing a proposal for a wireless video device to be used in NFL sports arena's. People would be able to rent them at the beginning of a game and then see instant replays throughout the game and oder consessions or souviner's right from their seat. The proposal is for a class project and is...
I have been messing around with getting the windows xp FTP software to work and somehow in the process I got an something that is causing me to get internet popups all the time. Is there a temporary file folder or something else I can delete to stop this?
Thanks,
Andy
I am trying to set up WinXP remote desktop. I have a dsl modem that goes to my computer. My roomates computers are connected to a hub which is then connected to a second eithernet card in my computer. Remote desktop works on our local network but does not work from outside unless I disable the...
Ok I now can get to the ftp site through the web browser on my computer but not from a roomates computer. I get an window that says Alert at the top with an error message saying "530 user anonymous cannot login." Does anyone know what my new problem is?
I disabled simple sharing and I still get Error next to the "Default FTP site" icon in the Internet Information Services control window.
EDIT: Wait the permission thing shows up now....I'll let you know what happens.
I am trying to set up the built in Windows XP FTP server but I can't get it to work. I have a DSL modem pluged directly into my computer and then have another network card that goes to the hub my roomates are conected to. I installed the Internet Information Servers (IIS) from the XP cd and ran...
The capacitors seem to be fine and is it really possible for all three dimm slots to go bad at the same time while the computer is just sitting there and running normal? Also can I rma it even if I've had it for over a year. I'm pretty sure it only had a one year waranty?
I have a computer with an MSI K7T Pro2-A with the diagnostic leds in it. It stops on the third light sequence which is the memory detection test. I check the ram in another computer and it works fine. Then I tried another stick of ram that I know works and still nothing. I also pulled...
I have to constantly have both browsers running because neither one works right. When you click on a link that requires another window to pop up in Internet explorer the window shows up blank. In netscape the back button is greyed out all the time so I can't ever back up. Does anybod have any...
I am trying to reformat a laptop and install win98. There was a compac restore CD that came with it but the computer had problems reading the CD rom drive. So I used a 98 startup disk and used format C: to reformat, and then setup. When It got to the point where windows was just from the HD...
I think that might have worked minendo! Thanks. I'll have to use the drive a little bit to make sure but I opened a word document from a disk with no problmes. What could cause a cable to go bad just sitting in the computer? Maybe it just got bumped and wasn't making a good connection to the MB.
I just tried that minendo and it still killed the computer but instead of rebooting it went to a blue screen telling me there was an error and to remove any newly installed HW componenants, which I don't have any of. Do you (or anyone else) have any other suggestions for what could be causing...
When I put a floppy disk in the drive and then try accessing it the computer shuts down and reboots on it's own. I figured it had to be either the drive itself or the power supply so I swaped both. It still does the same thing and I am completely boggled by what could be causing it. Could...
The computer shuts down and reboots on its own when I try accessing the floppy drive. It will sometimes open the folder on the floppy but when I try to open a file in it...... well it crashes. The floppy drive was on the same power cord as the HD so I moved it to its own and it still does the...
I just installed windows xp. Normally in windows 98 when you go to shut down it will turn the computer off automatically. Well XP says "it is now safe to shut down you computer" just like win 95 use to. But then when I push the power button nothing happens. I either have to hold the power...
A while back I put a different video card in a different computer to see if the problems I was having was hardware related. Ever since then the computer I pluged it into has been hickuping when playing 3d games. How can I erase all files that had anything to do with that card. I have erased...
No offence Dave127 I appreciate the help but that isn't even an option. I am only replaceing the Mother board. I don't want to get into having to buy new ram for a DDR board or anything else for all that matters.
What is the difference between the K7TPro2A and the K7T Turbo? And also what...
My MSI K7TPro motherboard stoped working under warranty so I returned it. The company I bought it from doesn't sell it anymore so they are giving me store credit and I have to buy a different one. Should I get the K7TPro2A or the K7T Turbo? Or is there a better Duron/Athalon MB I should get...

Yesterday I turned on my computer and ran it for about 15 min, the room it was in was very hot and muggy. I was then organizing the cords behind the computer so I unplugged the monitor from the wall to switch outlets. This shouldn't have done anything to the computer but when I hit enter to...
I had the same problem, this may sound wierd but ive been told that those ps/2 to serial converters are picky. If you buy the mouse and jack seperatly. I had a mouse and wanted to hook it up to a laptop that didn't have a ps2 jack on it. After I was told that, I went and bought a cheap $10...
There are alot of members with pretty long for sale posts who have joined anandtech whithin the last week or two. Is it a good idea to only buy from members/senior members and up. Don't alot of people who rip us off that get a bad rating so they just start over ripping more people off with a...

I put 128MB of Mushkin PC133 cas 2 ram in my computer but paid alot for the name and peace of mind. I am now building a budget system for someone as cheap as possible and don't know how safe it is to just put in the cheapest stuff/value ram I can find. What should I get and what is the...
How do I "Create a one-line autoexec.bat file that contains the command that runs the flash (with, of course, the appropriate switches)". And will this work even if the computer isn't booting at all? Are these the correct switches (from the msi website)?
