To be honest I have a 4770k and Im thinking of getting this CPU. Mainly beacause my haswell cant go over 4.4 Ghz and it needs the whole 120v from the wall outlet to do so. Still I want to see how it performs first before taking the swing.

Nice work there man. So The voltage needed for the chip would be less at less temps according to you and one could achieve higher clocks. What method do you recommend vice or razor?

Right. It would run cooler but I wont get any performance increase besides the chance of brick it. Anyway, is it fine to run it at 1.32v 24/7? What do you think?

Hi. My 4770k does 4.5 on 1.32vcore. For 4.6 it would need more than 1.36v and Im not comfortable with that. Doing only fpu test in aida64 the cpu throttles for overheating. All this using a h110 in pull push setup. However in daily applications max is 69C. Im wondering if taking the risk of...

Im currently at 4.4ghz 1.26v. I would use it just lo lower the temps a bit if it helps. Although @yamamoto says it wouldnt matter so now im confused.

Do I change voltage to adaptive when done overclocking?

I've set mine to 1.32v adaptive 4.5GHz. I tested it with Aida64 and vcore will go pass 1.40v which makes the CPU throttle. However, i've checked with Aida monitor running in the background while playing Crysis3, or even FSX which is high Cpu demanding that the voltage never goes beyond 1.32v...

Solved!!! Thank you, I set it to 0% min. Now its throttling and going back to 4.5ghz under load. Next its to set the correct adaptive voltage configuration. Thanks again

Speed step is enabled. Doing nothing in the desktop and it is still running at full. I updated the BIOS to P1.90 which is the latest.

Overclocking 4770k

I ran the same test for 35 min without crashing. Then ran it again and crashed in 2 mins. Why? Also I did this to see how quick it would crash with the 4.7ghz clock. What I didnt expect was to have the temps soaring that much to tj max only with .01v when previously they were in the 80s

Hi guys, I've spent two days testing my new build. Overclocking I get 4.5ghz on 1.32v. Temps hit the mid 80s with an h110 in pull push set up. Wondering if this is normal. Cant go beyond 4.5 otherwise I have to increase vcore and the cpu hits the thermal wall. What do u think?

Ok guys just did a prime95 test simultaneously with a furmark test and everything is ok. So now im more convinced that this is about software, hardware is fine. Im downloading the complete Directx SDK package from the windows website to attempt a fix, if not fix I ll go with a windows reinstall...

The rig does have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 which does the job. 100x45 the multiplier, I dont like to up the MoBo bclk cuz it sometimes conflicts with the graphics card creating instability. About the integrated GPU Ill take a look at it I remember having it messing with the card in a gigabyte...

Its an Asus z68 lx, Barracuda 7200.11 1TB, 4 case fans 3 of them LED, 1.65v 1600 mhz 2x4gb, and your average DVD burner. Will do tests later have to contact the guy who has the rig.

Prime95 and Furmark tests at the same time just to make sure. I'll post the results. I know this PSU has the minimum required I think its 24a in the 12v rails, but it has been the same PSU I ve used over and over in these builds.

As Furmark passes, the PSU its not the issue nor the videocard as it is pushed to 99% rendering and drains maximum power. Don't know why you say stability is not tested. BTW I reinstalled nvidia drivers and problem persists.

Video card is not overclocked, Ram is 1600MHz by default. Just OCed the CPU, don't think it will affect graphics processing, PC only crashes with WEI in the video phase and starting any game so I think it could be some mess with directx windows files due to the reason I explained before.

So you would go with EVGA. All of them have been slightly used. The Asus armor looks better, its heavier but seems very resistant, also has a pair of fans, the others only one and armor is plasticky. Still undecided
