I can get those 4GB sticks for 20 each so two would be cheaper than those Samsung sticks. In any case I live in Canada so that is a good deal for me. How much performance would I gain from overclocking RAM though.

I am assembling a very limited budget system and I am wondering if it matters what sort of RAM I have. Will I notice any difference between 1333 Kingston ValueRam sticks and 1600 Mushkins or any other brand?

Is the 7850 worth it?

I used to have a AMD Athlon 64 x2 4800+ and I used both the ATI 4770 and 5850 with it playing skyrim. Between the two there was no noticeable difference in framerates whatsoever, I'll say that is a pretty bad CPU bottleneck.

Turn PC off every night or leave it on 24/7? (Discussion)

I have no idea if I am wrong or right, but I think leaving my PC on helped kill my video card. The fan started wobbling so maybe constant motion loosened a screw or something. Also I notice that shutting down computers seem to clear the ram, but I guess that is not much of a problem for those...

Yeah I am pretty much riding on the fact that 7850 crossfired will be powerful enough to keep up. The reason I did not chose the cheaper 6870 or 560ti were because I think 2GB of ram will be needed to keep frame rates up at high resolutions. Skyrim still runs fine at medium settings on the 4770...

Which AMD processor would be best?

I am fairly sure I am mainly CPU limited. I ran Skyrim with a 5850 and then a 4770 OC after the 5850 broke. There wasn't much of a difference between the two, indicating the CPU is seriously slowing down the GPU. Not all of us students can afford i5s! :) Hence, overclocking

I don't go all out on graphics anyway. Processors don't seem to matter too much in games. I am running vanilla Skyrim on high to medium settings with a amd athlon 64 x2 4800+ completely stock, albeit at 15FPS in Markarth. The only thing wrong seems to be bottlenecking of the GPU. I would say...
