Thanks for the replies guys. I think I will also remove battery at half charge and store it. Shall use it only when needed. Have come across plenty of people recommending so. Cheers. :D

Hi, Is it true that I should plug my laptop to power outlet as much as possible to enhance battery life? I mean, is it true that if I keep power plugged in even after battery is fully charged, power current will bypass battery & laptop will run on direct power and there by reducing battery...

please recommend mobo for Core i3 series

I stay in India & I'm getting an i3 2100 processor for Rs.6500/- here which works around to ~ $130. And I certainly don't want to spend more on mobo than on processor.

Thanks for all your views people. And sincere apologies for not replying frequently enough on this thread... BTW, I do not live near any Micro Center. Infact, I stay in Mumbai (India). :D I've decided to go for i5-2500K since the price difference is hardly Rs.3000 (~ $60). I kind of agree...

Thanks for your inputs. I've decided to go for Z68 chipset motherboard after all... Seems the best option available today even though it's little bit expensive than P67 or H67... :)

Well, I'm going for 2500K since there is hardly any difference in the price of 2500 & 2500K... I might OC sometime in future though and thats where 2500K would come in handy... But I've heard that MoBo should also support OC else it does not work... Is it true?

I'd be using only 12 GB RAM as of now. However, I'd like to have the option of upgrading to more memory if need be... Just a bit of future proofing... ;)

Thanks for the link. Since I won't be overclocking, I think H67 would suffice my needs. Thinking of getting Asus P8H67-M 32GB DDR3 Intel Motherboard. Any idea how it is?

MoBo recommendation for i5-2500K

Guys... Need MoBo recommendation for i5-2500K. I won't be overclocking the processor. And need 32 gb memory support. Also # of USB ports would matter. And obviously price would matter as well. Am I asking for too much? :-D

@ hyrule4927: I download a lot on my PC. Almost 80-90 GB a month. Mostly HD movies & TV shows. I play occasional games such as FIFA, Virtua Tennis 4 & Ashes Cricket 2009. And my PC is always on for downloading the stuff. Next 4-5 years down the line, I do not see any drastic changes in my usage...

Intel Core i5-2550K Processor (6M Cache, 3.40 GHz) is what I think would suffice my needs. 2600K is I7 right? As much as I want it, it's way too expensive for me... :(

I'm really glad that I checked with you guys before taking any decision... I think I have to get Intel Core i5-2500K 6MB 3.30 GHz even if that means going over the budget a bit... I was really wondering how come AMD is so cheaper... Now I know why.... :biggrin:

Guys, I'm upgrading my desktop soon & as much as I'd like to have an Intel I7, I really cannot afford it. On a tight budget here... A friend suggested I rather go for AMD which will give me equivalent computing power @ almost half the price. I've always wanted to try AMD & here is my chance but...
