I did the same thing, After I installed the creative drivers & hq I tried to update just the driver its self from win update. It seemed to work fine until playing a game then noticed that my surround was gone.So I reinstalled the creative driver and left it alone.If it ain't broke don't fix...

Switching to a higher res. does not give you more frame rates.It gives more detail.He was complaining about his geforce 2 gts not having more fps than his old geforce mx.If you look in the benchmarks youll see that the geforce mx all the way up to the geforce 2 ultra has the same fps at 640x480...
you only use fps_max to see what the setting is.To set it you have to enteras follows: fps_max 100 make sure there is a space between max & 100.Also make sure to use the _ between fps & max
