Every Noctua heatsink I've ever installed, you work the screws down and they simply stop. There's no wiggle room or gray area. There isn't anything scary about it. It sounds like you didn't secure it all the way, which would be bad both for temps and movement over the CPU.

Reference cooler (NV's New Founder!) Yay or Nay poll!!!

I prefer reference as I often use SLI, but I'm not keen on paying a premium for reference. As long as it is a solid, quiet board with no coil whine I'm generally fine. And I'm definitely not doing SLI with a $200 marketing penalty.

GTX 950 vs GTX 750 Ti

Anecdotal evidence is just that. I built like 3 new PC's in the past couple years and probably 2/3 of the components had some rebate. All of them went through with zero hassles. I know that's anecdotal too, but it's not appropriate to assume that they never work.

Remote install question

I need an easy way to remotely install Solaris 10 on some devices.. Unfortunately they're old Sun workstations that lack an optical drive, and even a second hard drive bay (unless SAS is used, and it isn't). Thoughts? Thanks for any feedback.

I would consider one of these seriously if it had Thunderbolt2. I'd have to check out the keyboard though, as I'm a bit picky on that front. I'm not concerned about the CPU.

PSA: Avoid Apple Watch 1st Gen

I'd be tempted by the steel model with the loop band. I prefer links, but that pushes it to $1000 or so. That's a lot of coin for a gen1 product. I'll probably grab a black sport model just for grins. It's still not impulse buy territory but a lot better.

Bad magic number in super-block while opening filesystem using e2freefrag

You can't even take it offline after hours? I'd boot to an optical and run fsck. Otherwise I'd usually at very least boot to single user and run that way, but sounds like that's out too. It can be run live but generally the results aren't great.

The good news is that you're unlikely to have issues, and if you do, it's pretty well documented and you'll get help. I haven't had any problems, despite overriding that "feature". That being said, I had no issues rolling without trim. That'll depend on the drive and usage.
