Windows 7 Activation Problem.

You'll have to call their activation hotline and get an actual person on the line so you can explain the situation. Since this is a retail product, not OEM, it should have transfer rights and be a pretty simple matter.

Touchwiz/Sense etc bandwagon hating

I have to admit to actually liking TouchWiz on the whole. I haven't used any of the others, so they might be a different story, but especially if you get a custom TW ROM with all the useless garbage stripped out, it's quite nice IMO. I have nothing against AOSP, but it's just sort of blah...

Xbox Remote

I'd just suggest getting a Harmony, or some other programmable remote. Then you can always repurpose it for other uses later, or even control the TV, Xbox, and stereo system all from the same remote.

Newegg open box a safe bet for motherboard purchase?

I can't speak for any other vendors, but just the other day I someone do an RMA for a NewEgg open box video card. So, it's not like you lose the option to do an RMA, assuming other vendors have a policy more or less the same as Asus.

PS3 God of War Collection...worth it?

The first two PS2 games were definitely good, can't comment on the two PSP titles that were also later ported to the PS3. On the whole, it doesn't seem like they messed with the formula much gameplay wise, so if you liked 3 and want more of the same, then you probably can't go too wrong.

Not sure about the stock ROM, since I've been running various leaked builds, but yes they are there, but you can turn them off if you tap the wifi option in settings. At least in the various Touchwiz based ROMs I've used.

32-bit Office vs. 64-bit Office

Basically unless you have some truly massive Excel spreadsheets or especially large Access databases, there is no real benefit to a 64-bit version of Office. Probably very little in the way of drawbacks as well, unless you use third party extensions.

Install OS drive directly from my Sony to new Asus, without formatting.

Bottom line this isn't going to work. First there's the licensing issues. The copy of Windows you got with the Sony is licensed specifically for that unit, and there are no transfer rights. Yes, we all know you're not trying to do anything shady, but nonetheless it is technically software piracy...
