Well, people do say though that the Active appears more bright especially outdoors. So if they'd have turned both to the same subjective brightness as opposed to 50%, maybe the battery life results would have been more similar.
What's the battery life of the base GS4 according to Engadget? Edit: 9 hours and 15 minutes. That's 50% longer than the S4 Active.
The claims of inferior screen seem subjective. Many people prefer . color neutrality and outdoor visibility of IPS over OLED.
Who might be the first ressource to analyze this and tell us the result? Would be good to know if it is the same technology (Exmor RS) as well as sensor size.

You should not assume that. Far more important factors than Mpx count would be the size the sensor and whether it is Exmor R or Exmor RS. I think both of these factors are presently unknown.
Can people comment on their take on the advantages and disadvantages of having physical buttons, in the light of Google's disincentive to have them?
At least in principle having the buttons should allow one to increase the effective screen real estate.
I doubt it will be a big deal. I'm just used to having the back button on the left, and a "Mission Control (displaying all active apps)" type button on the right from my previous phone. On this phone the back button is on the right, and there's a menu button on the left and no "active apps"...
I got the phone yesterday. Will be torn between it and the Google Edition version of the regular S4 that will come out this week. I really don't appreciate the TouchWiz skin. The display is great as long as you turn off auto-brightness (it dims it to ridiculously low levels at times).
