I'll let FilezZ give you the low down on the Equipment. I'm not sure exactly what all of it is.
The screen is just a regular Da-lite screen. 16:9 is the way to go if you will only be displaying HDTV format or if all of your DVDs are in wide screen format. The problem is if you want to...
Although I knew what the basic outcome would be, I modeled an IB as compared to our two boxes combined. at 100 Hz, the IB is down by about 4 db, and at 20 hz, the IB is down by 14 to 15 db.
Really an IB is the same as a sealed box with a really, really BIG sealed box. If you want to get...
Well, you can say what you want. I understand your skeptsicm. I have built hundreds of boxes, and many times it is hit and miss. especially when you are dealing with band pass boxes. I have built a few real duds. I really did not have high expectations. I must tell you though that I was...
Well, it is not exactly flat, as you pointed out it never will be. We do have the boxes on different amps with seperate gains to compensate for the small difference between the two curves so what you see in the plot is not what is coming out after amplification.
Another thing. One of our objectives was to create a really good overall sound environment, while keeping the speakers as hidden as possible. An infinite baffle system would have been very hard to hide Whereas, a 6th order Bandpass box has no speakers directly exposed.
BTW, Just to see what...
Hey Shockwave, I added a copy of the response plot from WinISD that we used when modeling to the picures at http://adminsystems.clayton.edu/HomeTheater/index.htm if you want to take a look.
The Bazookas are more suited for a ported box rather than a sealed box due to their Efficiency Bandwidth Product (f3/Qes), so we did not mix band pass and sealed speakers. We mixed Ported Speakers, and a 6th Order Bandpass box. The reason was plain to see when we modeled the response curves...
Lumins are not as important as the contrast ratio. Lumins are measured on a logrithmic scale like decibles, so its not linear. In other words 2000 lumins is not twice as bright as 1000 lumins.
It really didn't cost as much as you would think. We are just a little over the edge. Actually, I am a former Cabinet Builder Hence the wood work. I am now a DBA. FilezZ is a Sys Admin. I guess thats what you would call him. (Is that right FilezZ?) We are brothers, and believe it or not...
Well, how it sounds is largley dependent on the box that you build. We went to great pains to do this one right. We modeled the system with a program called WinISD by LinearTeam. Using a little design magic we were able to get the bass response flat to below 20 Hz. It sounds great. Very...
Here is another link to FilezZ's Home theater. I put the files on another website, and organized it a little. It should be much faster here.
FilezZ's Home Theater
I'm FilezZ's brother, and helped build his system. Yeah, it would have been nice to have Theater style seats, but we were on a budget. Those things are way over priced. Had to draw the line somewhere :)
There are 16 subs under the raised floor, and 16 in the back wall in a 6th order band...
Nope, I tried my local Super Target, and they don't carry it either. I ordered one Online before they pulled it, but its unlikely that they will honor it. Thought I would try to buy it in the store too if they had it but no luck.
What you say is true but it is very dependent on the driver characteristics. not all speakers are well suited for an Infinite Baffle configuration. An infinite baffle system is in essence a closed box system where the box is so big that the springiness of the air in the box is greater that the...
Hey everyone, FileZz is my brother, and he and I designed and built these boxes. I'm the old guy in the pictures.
Just to address some of the posts,
First, we can indeed make perfect circles. Our carpentry skills are not lacking. The quality of the holes was intentional. They won't show...
Well,
For those of you that have been following FileZz's Home Theater, the first 16 - 12" subs went in this weekend. All I can say is "OH MY GOD!!!!!"
It hits Sooooooo Hard.
I have heard louder systems in a car but, This is at least as loud as the loudest club I have ever been in.
With this...
DjBaMBaM, If you are wanting to put these speakers in a car, I would recommend a 2 cubic foot box tuned to 40Hz for each speaker. This is Bazooka's recommended configuration, and for a car, it really is about the best I have been able to model. If however, you want to put these in a house...
You are right mikeford. But, most people out there have come acustomed to the boomy bass, and WANT that extra gain in the low end. If you are really into high fidelity, and not high volume, that might not be a bad idea. For $15, it doesn't hurt to experiment. Personally though, I like the...
TigerBait, and all you others who might be interested, I have put together yet another page at http://168.28.245.109/filez/1Bazooka.htm that shows all the appropriate design parameters, and graphs for desinging a 6th Order Bandpass Box for only one Bazooka CSW-1204 sub.
In addition, the long...
There have been alot of questions about how to design a box for the Bazooka 12" sub. What kind of box, how big, Ported or sealed...
Well, I have been working with FileZz designing his home theater. I have been doing this for a long time, and I have to tell you these are really some pretty...
