  1. Gaming PC Upgrade

I'll add my two cents in, since I recently upgraded to a 144hz 1440p g-sync monitor (Acer XB270HU). Have you seen this video Digital Foundry did on whether people should finally upgrade their 2500k? LINK. I know you have a 2600k, but it still applies a little to you since it's still Sandy...
  2. 780ti or gtx970 wich better

When the Witcher 3 came out, I had a 780 Ti and my spouse had a 970. His 970 was blowing my 780 Ti out in performance, which was shocking to me. The extra vram along with Maxwell is just better to go with imo.
  3. Rise of the Tomb Raider coming January 28

Just finished it myself after getting it last weekend. Really enjoyed it and would support Crystal Dynamics for making such a great game.
  4. How Much of a Performance Increase from i7 3770k to i7 5820k

I took the leap from a 2500k @ 4.6GHz to a 5820k @ 4.4GHz and haven't looked back. I had a rebate from my credit union for TigerDirect, so I got $60 off. It came out to about $320. Just the added features of the new chipset has been awesome. m.2 with PCI-E 3.0 x4 for a Samsung 950 Pro has...
  5. 500GB + External drive vs 1TB Xbox One?

IGN did benchmarks with external drives a while ago here: IGN. I have a 3TB Western Digital external on my Xbox One and noticed Forza loads a little faster than before. Not to mention, going from 500GB to 3.5TB is pretty nice!
  6. check my pc build

Yeah, if you're going for a gaming build, Intel is the way to go for performance. You can get an Intel i5 4690k for cheaper than that AMD FX, which will perform better. Also, that motherboard is really overkill. You can get this ASUS Z97 motherboard for $123 for a 4690k Pretty much all...
  7. When does the next CPU come to Microsoft?

While I see where you're coming from, Frozentundra, a cheap laptop does not at all come close to the build quality the Surface Pro 3 has. My fiance got a cheap laptop with his taxes and we put a SSD in it and it runs with a low end AMD APU, but I got an i5 128GB Surface Pro 3 with keyboard...
  8. Z68 Motherboard Issues

I have an ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z with a 2500k @ 4.6Ghz and if I do not go into BIOS and "Exit and Save" every time my computer restarts or is turned on, it will hard lock five minutes after getting into Windows. Also the USB ports are starting to die out. About 4 of them do not work and...
  9. Nvidia Kepler performance driver fix released.

I have to admit, I was really annoyed seeing my 780 ti benchmarked to the performance of a 960. The updates made to the Witcher by the developer have really helped, though. Along with pushing my overclock even further. I do hope Nvidia gets this fixed ASAP though. Makes me question buying...
  10. What are the Pros & Cons of the Xbox One?

My one issue with Xbox One is its controller's quality control. My two controllers that I got day one have left thumbstick issues. They feel like they're grinding when you move them around. I have a PS4 as well and haven't had any issues with their controller. It's the main reason why all my...
  11. Spend $240 on console games this holiday

GTA V (PC), Destiny (PS4), Halo:Master Chief Collection (XBox One), Dragon Age: Inquisition (PC), and Super Smash Brothers (Wii U). Have GCU at Best Buy.
  12. Reccomendation

As mfenn said, your GPU and HDD are your weak points. I am running an i5 2500k @4.6Ghz and it is kicking butt still. You could get a GTX 760 for $230-250 and a 120GB Kingston SV300S37A/120G SSD for $66 on Amazon. Those would be huge upgrades. I bought the same SSD for my boyfriend's new...
  13. 1920x1080 or 2560x1440

You don't need more than 2GBs of video RAM for current games on the market at 1440p. For a decently modded Skyrim you will hit the cap, but not for games like BF3, Far Cry 3, or Borderlands 2. I run 1440p with GTX 670 SLI and they run everything fine on RAM even with some AA up. Don't let...
  14. To the people that are waiting to upgrade

Still extremely happy with my 2500k @ 4.6Ghz so I am likely waiting till Skylake.
  15. 27" Monitor

I have loved my ASUS PB278Q. Wouldn't want to go back to my 24" 120hz TN panel at all. It is great for gaming as well and love the color.
  16. Just Bought a Gaming Computer

I purchased the ASUS (PCE-N15) wireless network card for my sister's computer and it's been great. Has never dropped the connection and was a reasonable price. For mechanical keyboards, I love my Corsair K60. Cannot go back to cheap keyboards anymore. Corsair just released their K70 and K95...
  17. Destroy my build - $3,000 gaming setup

My 2 cents on the monitor. I own a PB278Q powered by two 670 FTWs and it is a beautiful monitor. For the price, it was worth every penny and I have not noticed any ghosting and the input lag comparison between this and my old BenQ 120hz monitor isn't noticeable at all to me in games. I...
  18. I take pride in cable management. Pic

Very nice. It kills me when people don't even bother to try and manage their cables. I can understand that some cheap cases don't really have any management along with getting a non-modular PSU, but clean systems just look so nice! Here's mine: I feel like I cheated though since I have...
  19. High Failure Rate in Radeon 7970s

A slow and horrible RMA process can really kill a company for me. AMD's seem to have so-so companies making their cards that have difficult RMAs and that's why I stay away from AMD. I buy Nvidia for EVGA because you speak to people in California and their RMA process is superb. It's a...
  20. GTX 660Ti or GTX 670

Absolutely. I built a system for my sister earlier this year and I got her a GTX 650 and it runs The Sims 3 beautifully at 1680x1050. If you don't game much, a GTX 650 Ti Boost should be plenty of power at that resolution.
  21. Sim 3 Computer

I built pretty much the exact same system for my sister two months ago for Sims 3 and school work. Same processor, same motherboard, WD Blue, and same PSU. I got her a GTX 650 though since it came with Assassin's Creed 3. I would for sure get the 7750 over the 6570 though because this...
  22. Part time gamer build

    Indeed it would.
  23. First Build (any input would be greatly appreciated :)

If you're planning on overclocking, you should get a 3570k ($220) then. Should also get an aftermarket cooler like a 212+ ($30) or 212 Evo ($35) since Intel's cooler isn't good at all for overclocking.
  24. PCs on Amazon

Yeah, please do yourself a favor and build your own computer. With how many videos there are on YouTube and guides out there, it's really simple. Building one is kind of like building a Lego set...but actually easier since the parts aren't so small lol. The amount of savings and the sense of...
  25. 2600K @ 5GHZ, How common is it really???

On my 2500k, I can hit 4.8Ghz with a vcore of 1.39 and LLC at high with max IBT temps of 78c and gaming temps of 50-60c, but above that and it takes too much voltage for my liking.
  26. Reapply CPU thermal paste??

I personally love MX-4. Pretty cheap and does its job well. If you only have those three to choose from, I'd choose the Ceramique one as well.
  27. 2500k OC Frustration

I use a M4E-Z motherboard, but for 4.8Ghz, I had to put the vcore to 1.39 and the LLC on high. I left all the C states on and it passed 8 hours of Prime and hasn't crashed yet (over a week so far). Could be the board and/or the CPU though.
