This is is true, and a reflection of what users have accepted for so long that it has become reality,I remember back in the day Adaptec controller cards, especially SCSI destroyed anything that Intel had on the market. There are still some cheap brands out there but none offer reasonable...
Unsure!?!, every day when I wake up I check your post on win-lite.de and this thread to see if there was progress on the x58.. running what was $500 supercomputer board with 6 SSD drives across 2 arrays. Wish TRIM was even an option, considering that the latest boards don't even have a...
And no doubt they will integrate the new controllers in an even more proprietary non upgradable manner as per the way they will make the new CPU's soldered directly to the mainboard. Extremely convenient for Microsoft's announcement of yearly OS updates... Looks like they will want to sell us...
Ya, I smell the stench of corporate politics and profiteering... Imagine how badly it will stink if they manage to force AMD to go tits up.
If what you found is verified, its indeed amazing how fast they can respond to no doubt the article on Anandtech and cripple the thing, as opposed to...
Any status on this? IMO it seems as the ambiguity of supported (non/supported) devices is the reason Intel isn't releasing this firmware. As they don't want to throw companies that bought and integrated the cheaper version of the controller under the bus.
As you eluded to earlier, its an all...
Can't really give much but a personal opinion but since thats what you asked for here goes.
IMO, Its going to be one of the later RST drivers that enables it if we do see it. They had huge issues with the 11.5 memory leaks (advised users to revert to previous versions). Guessing the current RST...
Tests repeated with today's current OROM on ICH10R:
Intel RST OROM 11.6.0.172 / RST Driver V 11.6.0.1030. Waiting for newer revision of Intel RST Driver package since this OROM is newer than the current WHQL and the 12.0 beta RST's are incredibly unstable..
Still no TRIM working on X58 in the...
Tests repeated with today's current OROM:
Intel Option ROM 11.6.0.1624, RST Driver V 11.6.0.1030.
Props to user ex58 for the OROM archive
Still no TRIM working on X58 in the RAID configuration same results as previously posted above... heck; at least it still boots... sorry fellas...
Right, still would be interested where this source got this information from since it was one of the most detailed posts about the older controllers, they obviously had some sort of document from Intel they got this info from to be able to specify so many details, and it almost parrots the Intel...
Yep, will show same results whichever app you use to check it.
Found where i got the exact procedure for WinHex... was from Marc_HFR Here
Also... another aside.
I wonder were these guys got this specific information, they provide no links at all... in hindsight they mention 11.6 RST when we...
Created File, Ran winhex, selected file and recorded sector.. deleted file, empty recycle bin, rerun winhex and navigate to same sector and check if area still shows values or has been reset to all 00 00 00 (as in the case of the solo SSD). Borrowed the exact procedure from one of the links in...
Same boat here.. running 4x Corsair Force GT 240's (6Gb/s) on the P6T7 WS board and cant see upgrading till there is a board with 4+ 6Gb/s ports...
I have been keeping a revised BIOS up to date over on the Asus forums, as they have not officially updated for a long time.
I managed to get a...
