AMD's real biggest issue, The DX9 Artifacts

I had artifacts very frequently in Euro Truck Simulator 2 while I was on 12.11 beta, however it have gotten a lot better after 13.1. Not completely gone though. It's the only game I've had artifacts on my 7950(stock).

NVidia Tegra 3 power consumption (AT article)

Nice to see it put in numbers, but nothing I haven't experienced after owning a HTC One X for a while. I've been very unimpressed by Tegra 3 from the start, and not just because of the power consumption. The only positive thing I can think of is the companion core, but for me any gains in idle...

Techreport 7950 vs. GTX 660 Ti "Smoothness" videos

I thought of this as well, as I had a Sapphire 7950 with that problem. I wrote to Scott at TR and asked if he had thought of this. He wrote back that he thought that the card itself could be the issue, so he also tested another 7950 without boost. The results were the same.

[H] Yet again say SLI is smoother than crossfire

My German is a little(very) rusty, but on the Nvidia side it reads something like: A GTX 690 SLI runs in 2560x1440 pixels with only 40 fps and shows strong microstutter, which negatively affects "gamingfeel". AMD is a little more difficult for me to translate, but it's something like that...

Hyperthreading and CPU heat + game stuttering - overclocking vs. stock CPU speeds

The i5 is absolutely enough just for gaming, chances are it will never bottleneck whatever graphics card that Mac come with. In fact I wouldn't get a Mac for a gaming machine, unless you also want one for other reasons.

Of course, I'm not complaining. Actually I think it plays really well on my 7950 as it is, but any increase in performance is welcomed.

Radeon HD 7950 Owner's Thread

Same thing happened to me. My 1100mhz, 1.181v OC was stable in every single game I tried. Hitman Absolution, Arma2, BF3, could run heaven for hours. Then I started Far Cry and it crashed instantly. What is up with this game?

Downloading the game now. Hopefully we will get a performance increase driver from AMD soon, as I'm not completely happy about the 7950's performance judging by those benchmarks.

Need help overclocking...

That's what I did, and then adjusting offset accordingly in 0.05 increments until stable. Now I'm running at 4.4 with -15 offset. I'm no expert by any means, but this worked for me. I see they have another way of figuring out offset in that guide but I didn't do that.

New to OC... 7970 easy to OC?

It's very easy. The MSI 7950's at least usually have high ASIC scores, which means they go quite far with little voltage. Since you're new to this you probably shouldn't touch voltage yet. Just download MSI Afterburner and see how far you can get on stock voltage. Increase power limit to 20%...

Radeon HD 7950 Owner's Thread

Got the Gigabyte today. Got it stable at 1100MHz @ 1.175v in Sapphire Trixx, it crashed at 1150. Could tweak it more and haven't touvhed the memory yet. The flickering didn't go away though, so the Sapphire card isn't to blame. I have no idea what could cause it, it didn't happen with my 7850.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't screen tearing. It was worst in dark scenes, it was slightly black horizontal lines. I even got it on my wallpaper when I ran Furmark windowed. I also got it at the same time as screen tearing in Arma 2, it looked completely different. Let's just hope I have more luck...

I'll check. What's best to test stability? Furmark or Heaven? I gotta say this cooler is amazing. Did a 15min Furmark run on stock clocks/voltage(925MHz/1125Mv and max temp was 63c, VRM didn't exceed 62c. It was also almost inaudible over my case fans. Edit: Also I think the flickering is...

Just installed my Sapphire. Asic rating of 58.6. Lowest yet?:P Edit: I tried overclocking the card slightly(1050mhz), but my screen started flickering in games. Reverting to stock seems to have fixed it. Never encountered anything like this before.

Yeah I agree it's weird. I ordered the Sapphire card though, the price was great. I wanted to buy Hitman and Far Cry anyway, so the value is amazing for me.

Thanks. I'll probably pick up the dual-x then. The other option at the same price is the XFX Dual Dissipation. I'm not a fan of their coolers though, I have a XFX 7850 with a single fan now. It's quite noisy and hot. Think the dual fan is much better?

Actually it should work fine, but you'll have to register by phone. I recently used the registration key from a Acer desktop in a new built and it worked fine. I used the CPU from the Acer though, but I don't think that matters. OP: Unless you plan to OC these B75 mobos are great value. Just...

AMD's Gaming Evolved snags FarCry3

Indeed. It also very power hungry. I have the One X and the fifth power saving core doesn't make up for the power draw when in use in my opinion. The only thing Nvidia have going for it is throwing $$ at developers for optimizing games for Tegra. Maybe also price, thinking about the Nexus 7...

Core i5-3570K Temperature Fluctuation In LinX?

It is weird, I have a pretty similar system with a Asus P8Z77-v mobo and Samsung 830 SSD and it just flies. Those gflops does seem a little low, although I've only tried IBT and at 4.1-4.3. I'll try LinX at stock speeds when I get home from work.

Trading my 8800GTS for a smaller form factor GPU. Comparisons?

That Sapphire 6670 isn't a bad card, I had one installed in a Acer X3960 with a 220w PSU. But I wouldn't recommend it unless your case have good ventilation, which these small cases rarely have. It runs very hot, I had to mount a case fan on top and have the side door slightly open in the back...
