Samsung EVO SSD and AMD Chipset

so to get back to ide from ahci do i just change it in the bios or do i have to change the registry key in win7? tried switching off ahci in bios and booting the iso cd, but got errors (reading the partition). i'm on a uefi system w/ gpt disk - maybe this is not supported by the freedos...

GPU or APU

My system is FM2 based w/ 1866 DDR3RAM: A6-6400K 4.1 GHZ APU w/ Radeon HD 8470D/192 Shader Cores/800 MHz/DX11 was wondering if I should pop this guy in as a discrete GPU: Radeon HD 4850 1GB 640 MHz/256 bit/800 Shader cores/ DX10.1 Any comments?

Which SATA HDD to get?

There is no real world difference for mechanical HDD in SATA 3 vs 6. Best mechanical drives are the WD Black - fast and 5 year warranty. If you want SSD, that's a different beast - and this is where SATA 6Gbps helps. I would roll with a 128 GB SSD for the OS or 256 SSD for OS & Apps and a couple...

Typical temps for AMD A6 6400k?

I recently set up a system with the same chip... mine idles around 30c/load around 40c. So your temps are very high. Especially with Cool 'N Quiet enabled. The stock cooler is merely OK for average use/non-overclock. If you're worried about temps, invest in a Arctic Freezer 64 Pro (about $25)...

LOL. I remember shotgunning 2 56K modems on 2 land lines and thinking I was the coolest dude on the block! And yes, come Christmas - SSD it is.

I have 2 older Seagate Barracuda 200GB drives and 2 newer Western Digital 1TB Black drives in my system. I'm having trouble deciding how to set up Windows 7. Right now I have the OS on one of the Seagate 200GB drives, Apps on the other 200GB Seagate and use the 1TB WD Blacks for Video/Storage...

Old Raptor HDD

SSD is definitely my next step... I am thinking of using the 2-200GB Seagate Barracudas in RAID 0 for Apps as well as the OS, instead of the Raptor for OS separately. Would the 'Cudas in Raid 0 be faster than the Raptor? Or are they both old and slow? :) Just trying to buy a few months till I...

Old Raptor HDD

Yeah, gonna grab an SSD this Christmas and pop it in for OS/apps... the Raptor is slow and loud... but then again my system is old - trying to prolong it's life: Athlon X2 6000+ 3.2 GHz 4GB DDR2 RAM 800 MHz Radeon 4850 1GB :) Guess the SSD will be the last upgrade, then RIP. Thanks for smacking...
