Help needed on old Compaq Presario laptop

Did you find the specific drivers you were looking for? I have the same laptop, and wanted to install W2K on it (after a memory upgrade to 96 megs) but after doing so found that there was no sound and couldn't for the life of me find a W2K sound driver for that stupid integrated Cyrix MediaGX...

anyone played bridge commander yet?

I'm loving Bridge Commander for the most part, but critically speaking (hehe, I never learned how to speak "Critical") it ain't without warts. On the bridge & screen character graphics are pretty lame... especially lip synching - I've seen better lip synching on a low budget kungfu flick...

VisionTek 6564 Ti200

I haven't tried clocking mine past 220/500, which is the maximum that coolbits will allow. RivaTuner will let me go higher, but that utility registers a "safe range" which the maximum is againk, 220/500. I guess I'm too chicken to go further than that. Bwrak! Wade

Buy Geforce3 now or wait for Geforce4?

Maybe in 2 months I'll feel differently, but right now, I'm happy as a pig in shyte with my Visiontek Ti200... one can go nuts playing the "wait to buy till the next tech release" game... sure, maybe in 2 months that Ti4200 will be the best bang for the buck, but I wanted a video upgrade now...

Best Detonator Drivers for Windows XP

My best results have been with the 23.12's... I've also tried 27.20, 27.30, 27.42... all worked nicely, but weren't as fast in the benchmarks as the 23.12's. Cheers, Wade

Well, popped in the new card... went in like butter... had no problems with drivers, as I was already using 23.12, but after I played around with RTCW & MOHAA to see what they looked like at 1024x768 with all details on (NICE....) I updated to the new leaked 27.20 drivers. Still nice. Got 6333...

A way to print FoxPro 2 (DOS) in Windows 2000 to a local printer?

A workaround I can think of, although not a real fix... would be to import the FoxPro database into an Excel spreadsheet and print it from there... but not knowing the structure of your database, that may not be a viable solution either.

I had this same problem... here's my solution... don't know why it worked, but it worked. 1) Install Office 97 from CD 2) Install SR1 (optional) 3) Install SR2 (optional) 4) Here's the fix... re-install Office... yup, you heard me, re-install it... don't un-install first, just insert the CD...

What Games have you NOT been able to run in W2K?

I was mainly playing Unreal Tournament and Baldur's Gate II on my W2KPro machine... UT worked great, BGII alright, but not terribly stable (mind you may for all I know be the same in W98). However, there have been lots of other games that were for me, way more stable in W98 than in W2K...

I have a 200MMX, 2.1GB HD, 32MB RAM. Should I install Win 95 or 98?

The processor will be fine for either OS, but with 32 megs of ram, Win95 would be the better OS... it's not as "nice" as Win98, but that means it's also got less "bloat". I just installed Win98 on a "new to us" laptop, with a 233 mHz processor and 32 megs ram...

Cool, thanx for the response. It never occurred to me that there were NT4 proggies that wouldn't run in W2K, as I always thought of W2K as essentially an update (albeit a *major* update) to the NT lineup.
