Need a laptop with highres screen and 32GB DDR

HP ZBook 17 .. can configure with 32 g , various mobile Quadro cards and I7 processors.. either UWVA or Dreamcolor ( 10 bit ) Screen . Designed for content creation, 3D CAD, Mobile Video , etc . Not cheap , but ..and built like a tank .

X99 boards - are they flaky?

Check that ( RTFAd!!) .. The board supports both the E5 V3 and the I7 processors, and Non ECC for the I7 . .. definitely adding that to the 'look at' list for a potential build early next year ..

^^ The Supermicro is a C612 board ( the Xeon 'X99' ?) , which is for the E5-V3 2011 .. it would be interesting to know if one could pop an 'X99' processor onto one of these .. also ECC versus non ECC DDR4 memory . If I went with one of these, it would be with one of the Xeon E5s and ECC ..

Tablet for medical office

Make sure whatever you choose ( device, operating system, and security parameters for configuration) is HIPAA compliant end to end . As I recall, there were some issues with Tablets not supporting the required on-device hardware encryption , but this was a while ago .

Windows 8.1 new install

That language is on Media Disks from OEMs . I've seen them accompanying machines that come with Win 7 Installed and sold with license and media for both 7 and 8 .. They usually get the keys from the machine during the install process.

Concur with GTX 650 ..gives multi-monitor support, 1 G of video memory and extra video processing power that the CPU/Integrated Graphics won't need to do , and has the CUDA cores /GL for Adobe .. You'll have a very capable photo/video rig ..

My 2 cents .. You really should shoot for stability versus overclocking for photo and video work .. Photo work isn't that CPU intensive over long periods , unless you batch process lots of the RAW files from your 5D3 .. Video rendering is a different story .. this does require all cores going...
