Fastest nvidia GPU for aftermarket fanless operation

For openCL you are going to want AMD as they are much faster in certain apps. As for passive then a 650 is a sure thing with a large block but no higher than a 650 Ti or 660 and you will still need low rpm fans. Be sure to add some sort of coolers to the power vrms on the card for the long run.

Finally upgraded from a GTX 460 768MB card!

Not bad and it was the most minimum as far as nvidia was concerned as an upgrade. I got a 930mhz 460 1gb that I am rocking right now lol.

Official 310.70 drivers.

Uninstall the physx drivers but leave the graphics drivers alone and manually an older version of physx. Then it will work just fine, ended up doing this because one version bricked every sort of dedicated physx.

Impulse buy! GTX690. Mistake? Overkill?

For the price you did better than most but to be honest if you make good use of it then $725 isn't so bad. When I impulse buy I cut out other expenses to make up for it.

Far from it, most of those that did were already pumping over 1.5v on their samples (doubt they will last anymore than a few months to maybe a year) and had to remove the ihs. Lucky me I bought some of the last tubes of that liquid metal alloy compound. :cool:

That may explain their choice of going with AMD's GCN for the gpu. I hope they do so that developers make use of it for other platforms. Plus GPGPU just kills the performance on Nvidia Kepler.
