what exactly is fake or cgi? you're seeing the real deal; all legit real-time renderings in the actual game engine. go to the engineering section sometime and learn how they made it all before you call it fake.

that's perfectly fine, just get whatever base ship then go from there. earning credits and buying a new ship is part of the fun. i'm sticking with my 300i! :P
of course there will always be new hardware around the corner, but you have to get something eventually. remember that we'll be playing this game through the entire development process, one module at a time. you still need a current system, now.

oh, someone said something about not seeing their resolution. this is an easy fix. go into your star citizen folder and open citizenclient. open the system.cfg with notepad and add the lines:

it is a requirement of crysis 3 (also uses cryengine 3), which only supports directx 11. this isn't on cig either; if you want to point a finger point it at crytek.
to be fair, they did say they would offer credits for cash. the basic weapons do seem on the expensive side, though. expect the good stuff to cost much, much more. at least from my experience playing privateer, high-end power plants, shield generators and avionics cost 100,000 credits.

you are funding the development of the game. you don't have to pay for anything more than the $30 package if you aren't interested in the alpha or beta. the ships you get are for the multiplayer, not the single player. back this week if you're at all interested in the game, you get lower prices...

it's something you'ld pay for with in-game credits, not real money. the vast majority of credits spent in the game will be on ships and upgrades. insurance is optional (although any reasonable person should want it), but it's not going to define the game. it's like the cost of landing, repairs...
you are right, new pledgers will not get lifetime insurance once the new website goes live. you are wrong about the date though, friday the 28th is the date. so get your pledges in before then. note that if you've pledged before that date, any ship you get will have lifetime insurance until...

basically that. there is no "best" ship; it's all relative and depends on what you want to do. a ship that's good for hauling cargo isn't going to be good for dogfighting. or even within fighting ships, maybe one is more agile but has less armor, and another has more armor but is less agile...
that's weird...if you changed the pledge amount to $30 and clicked on the $30 reward instead of the $35 reward, it should've worked? unless someone beat you to the punch and snagged it 1 second before you did. you're right about cs e-mails. they'll look into it i'm sure, it'll take a day or two...
for those that were having trouble in the rsi website during the last 48 hours, they are having a grace period where you'll be able to pledge (or purchase add-ons, or upgrade your current pledge) at the original tiers and prices until monday november 26th.
well...it actually stopped at 6.225M and change when the kickstarter ended. people can still make pledges though on the rsi website so it'll continue to go up (for instance, it sits at $6,244,38 right now!). mind-blowing, to say the least.

you've got six hours to get in on the tiers and current prices. after this initial funding period is over, you can still pledge (and get access to the alpha, etc), but there won't be as many tiers and it will cost a little more.
broke the 5.5 million dollar milestone at 6:25am et, and unlocked playable carriers, among other things. incredible.
