    HEY GUUUUYYYSSS! GOOD NEEEWWWWSSSS!!

I was doing a research paper about cancer and someone referred me to a program at Colorado State. I secured an appointment with a professor and walked into a building that contained hundreds of beagles being tested. I will never forget the sight- cages of beautiful dogs in various states of...

    crows smarter than humans?

I saw an article years ago about reported sightings of crows actually smoking discarded lit cigarettes. It seemed to be undocumented and the publication was asking for photographs to back up the stories. This might have been Omni magazine, which was all caught up in asking for photos of ball...

    Jury Duty: My review

I was summoned to serve on a county grand jury. I was excited thinking that I was going to be involved in some juicy investigation that would be big news locally. They were interviewing a middle aged woman who was not happy to be there and when they asked her what she did for a living she...

Who has had an impossible burger?

The approach to preparing meat alternatives at home should be that you are not trying to fool anybody, especially yourself. I am not a vegan, but I have tried these products and they are acceptable but not worth paying extra for if you're eating for taste and not for health. I prepare them...

Washer Drain Overflows -- Caused By Weird Plumbing?

The description of your house is the same as mine and I was having similar problems. I had tried snaking the line and various other homeowner repairs. Finally I had to call in a plumber and he installed a studor vent above the p-trap. This solved my issue.

Did you get $600 from the government?

Got mine by direct deposit on Jan. 4th. Off topic for a sec... my SO manages the accounts of residents at a nursing home and these payments create an accounting nightmare. The residents can't give the money away to their families or donate to food banks, televangelists or politicians. They...

Has anyone else noticed that women seem to lack genetic code to properly load a dishwasher?

There have been more "disagreements" in my house concerning the loading of the dishwasher that any other issue. I have been cucked down to the point where I always find some task to busy myself with when I see her rearranging the placement of dishes.

It’s 9-11 and the headlines are dominated by...

The five stages of grief are: denial. anger. bargaining. depression. acceptance. I believe we have reached level five nineteen years after 9-11. Each of us has to decide where we are in relation to covid-19.

In this thread, we pretend it's the year 2030

The green energy initiatives will be hailed as a tremendous step forward as the utility companies will install solar collectors on every residential roof free of homeowner cost. The meters will still be charging you for usage of the solar energy, however.

What is the shortest job you have ever had?

The summer after high school a friend and I were sent to a new warehouse by a temporary labor firm. The supervisor showed us a large barrel full of sealer, a wheeled bucket and two mops. He said fill up the bucket, roll it to one end and seal the floor and repeat until done. We worked about five...

Have you ever met/seen any living legends?

Went to a sporting goods store grand opening and Muhammad Ali came in the front door to speak. There was some confusion about where he was supposed to stand, and he backed up and was standing directly in front of me. I couldn't take my eyes off the expensive tailoring of his suit coat.

Question Strip Win10 to bare essentials?

I have four different installs of Win10 that have been tweaked with O & O's Shut Up and App Buster. They all have only the os on the C drive. The total amount of files is 12 GB or less on each one. The amount of temporary files created by Win10 is astronomical. I am constantly getting rid of...

    Boy Scouts files for bankruptcy

    Bus stop pickup insanity

    Ban Offshore Call Centers?

I posted in the pre-built desktop sub-forum my adventure with Dell's customer service. There was a brief interval where I was in a chat, on the phone and responding to an email on the same issue all at the same time. My girlfriend keeps telling me I don't know how to multitask.

Is it a design error if a section of freeway allows water to pool up in the middle of the road?

The engineers need to evaluate the compaction before the concrete crews start setting the forms. When the ground settles unevenly it can create dips or flat areas that pool water. When you see those huge motor scapers going back and forth, they are compacting the soil and spreading more fill to...

    Dell refurbished desktop order mistake

The effort I had to go through to get this matter straightened out is something Dell needs to address. I don't know how to state this without being accused of something...but dealing with call center employees in foreign countries that are working from a script is challenging to say the least.

    Monday Night Football Double Header!!!!

The broadcast in Denver was on the NBC affiliate's second channel for those without espn access. Home Depot (Rant)

I've calculated the time spent when you have to stop in the middle of a project to run to the home center or hardware store to get a part. It's usually a full hour- going there, finding the part, paying for it and coming home. The other alternative is digging through your storage in the garage...

What food did you hate as a kid, only to find out your parents just didn't cook it well?

I only recently discovered that brussel sprouts that are cut in half and prepared this way are quite tasty. Putting a ball of mini-sized cabbage into your mouth is awkward and ruins the taste. Slightly overcooked gives a grilled texture and crunchiness.

    Cataract surgery

Hmm, I recall a conversation with my doctor discussing laser versus a scalpel and he admitted that he thought that was an option that was not needed. What are these things called (small wire posts with flags to stick in ground)?

I'm not sure about the flags, but I have been composting like this for several years. This should actually be in the Home and Garden subforum... I put only organic waste that I used to grind up in the disposer. NO grease, animal fat and waste or anything that smells funny. I just dig a hole...
