well, my school is supposed to be one of the better ones for bme (top 10 according to US news rankings, not ranked at all for comp-e/EE/comp sci though, but I try nott to pay attention to rankings). I don't know if this means the courses are better, or harder...in any case, time to contact some...

I'm thinking along the same lines, do comp-e undergrad, and since I'll probably get a masters anyway (seems like almost necessary to be competitive in today's economy) I can always tailor it to biotech. if a bachelor's in bme isn't all that useful by itself, then I most likely won't pursue it -...

I think I'm far less knowledgeable about photography than I thought, for one thing. what constitutes low lighting? the pictures do look much much better with the flash, but they still have soft, fuzzy, overcompressed jpeg look (though it's on 1600x1200 superfine). I'm going to mess around with...

my S330 came today...so it's good my S200 was cancelled on me. I can't say I'm excited anymore though, because I took a few pictures - the quality is horrible. the colors are off, images are fuzzy, looking closely at the image shows blotches of red/green (is this image noise?)...what's the deal...

well, my S200 order was cancelled today, apparently "upon my request" which must be how dell interprets my calling them a week ago and telling 2 CSRs that I want to wait for the order. in any case, my S330 is still "being processed" so I won't call up and complain yet...maybe I'll get lucky...

wait, the s200 and s330 can't shoot 640x480 movies? the powershot.com web sites specs indicate that they can...who's right? also, I just used the $50 coupon + 10% to get an s330 - expected shipping date: 5/29! dell's lost if they think I'll wait 5 weeks...is demand for these cameras that high?

I've never done an amex pm so I'm a bit hesitant. personally I think it's min. 128mb CF card or nothing, so my deal would be something like this: S330 + 128mb CF card at Amazon = $400 + $60 - $25 (mem card discount) = $435 I don't know the rules on pm'ing with amex, such as if they care if it's...

just got the 4/29 delay email on my S200... :( I talked to a dell CSR, she said I can't change the order and keep the 10% + $25 discount, otherwise I'd replace it with the S330. is 640x480 movie mode worth waiting for? if only I could somehow have a camera to use while I'm waiting for my elph...

I was thinking about the d-510 also, seems like the main differences between it and the s200/s330 are the canons can shoot 640x480 movies, and I don't think the d-510 supports sound. plus the ELPH looks cooler :) I think both are good choices, if you can get the d-510 at dell with 10% + $25 off...

computer engineering and EE are almost identical at my school though. in fact, with little tweaking of my curriculum, I could get a degree in both and only have to take a couple extra classes. as I've learned from intro to EE, EE may not be for me. but if I do CE, it seems like I *am* in EE...

my speakers unfortunately don't have a headphone jack, something I'm not realizing I would have great use for. I'm figuring I could just plug headphones directly into my sound card when I need them, but that would be a pain considering that my tower's on the ground and my current headphones...

I noticed the shuttle ak31 has onboard ac97 sound...the people that are going to be using this computer aren't audiophiles or anything, so is the sound so bad it's not worth it, or is it fine for general use? speaking of which, are there any known sblive/via-chipset problems anymore?
