The Nvidia G-Sync Thread

Looking forward to when the price on it comes down and amd has a similar technology for their cards. Input lag is worse than screen tearing to me, so I'll have to deal with tearing for the time being.

Your preferred mechanical keyboard switch?

I like browns over the others. I tested them using that wasd kit. Reds felt far too easy/mushy, blues were loud, and the blacks felt like they would tire out my fingers from the higher force required for them.

Are you hard core?

I was getting 9 fps transcoding with my 8320 @ 4.5Ghz. Wish I had a 12 thread intel or proper gpu support for that situation.

So the asus is the only confirmed non reference board card upcoming? I hope the prices drop back to normal but I doubt it happens soon. I might have to get a used 780.

I imagine next week at ces we will get some actual benchmarks to confirm or deny these ones. The graph only says 7800 so maybe it's not the 7850 model with the 512 stream processors.

I'm not trying to derail your thread OP, but I have to reply. I only claimed it would deliver around 60 fps in modern games, which your graphs show adequately. It looks like intel would have the advantage for using a 120hz monitor playing far cry 2. I don't know how many people would use that...

BF4 campaign kinda sucks

Funniest thing to me about the campaign was how many situations I thought: "this is impossible, you can't survive that". The character gets transported to the different scenes by getting knocked out so many times. By far the stupidest part was when they blew the dam with the c4 while they...

Anyone know max memory speed Kaveri will officially support?

It shouldn't have a problem with 2400 ram. If you get a mobo with only 2 dimm slots it will have a higher official supported speed.

Assetto Corsa - Racing Sim

Does it control decently with a controller, or do you need a racing wheel? I've sort of been looking for a racing game after moving away from the consoles.

27 inch 1080p

I had a 27" 1080p monitor, and it wasn't good for text. I had to upgrade to 1440p. I would steer you in that direction or to get a 24" panel.

I don't think either of those games are cpu limited. I think you could get good value if you went with an apu build so you could run it in crossfire with your 7770 when kaveri comes out (January 24). it would save you money since you're on a budget. I don't think you would need a 290 at 1080p...

For the lulz... i5-4670k + HD4600 gaming performance

i'd rather have the hd 4600 than my current temp card (9400 GT). It runs fallout 1 and pixeljunk monsters fine, everything else is a mess. At least on the hd4000 you could play through half life 2 and rome total war. If intel keeps up the performance gains on the gpu side everyone will be...

Formatting hard drive -- stupid question

you could try ccleaner to destroy the data, or just manually transfer a lot of files to it and delete them. If you really want to format it try using gparted.

Depends on what games you want to play and your budget. Games that are highly single threaded will perform better on intel obviously. This is definitely seen on the total war games. I get like 17-25 fps using my 8320 @ 4.5Ghz. The i5 4440 could be a good choice for gaming and transcoding if...

PSU failing?

I had a bad psu that would just turn my computer off instantly when i was playing demanding games. If the computer is still running but the video output is messed up, that could point to your video card. If possible, I would just install the card in another system and see if you get the same...
