HTC One and Galaxy S4 Google play edition came out today...

Considering Google themselves heavily botched the 4.2 update for the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus, I'm not that worried about Samsung or HTC being dramatically worse.

Finally saw a Windows Phone in the wild

I actually know a number of people with Windows Phones. I know one person with a Lumia 800, one with a Samsung Focus, one with a Lumia 920, one with a Lumia 900 (and a 920 for his wife), and one with a Lumia 820. Also, there was someone with an HTC Arrive that recently upgraded to an iPhone 5.

Do you think all the praise the One's build is getting will make Samsung change?

iPhone 5s same screen size?

The issue IMO is more with one-handed usage. Can you pull down the notification shade with one hand? Can you reach across most of the screen with your thumb(because some apps stupidly place buttons on the corners)?. Can you dial with one hand? It depends on your hand size, but for me my 4.3" Evo...

It has to be anodized. Bare aluminum is soft and very easily scratched. Pretty much any consumer electronics made of aluminum are anodized.

Dual ANDROID car charger and usb cables

For Monoprice cables buy the 24/28awg cable (it's about 30 cents more per cable than the cheaper 28/28awg). The quality is much, much better. The cable also has less resistance so it should charge faster.

The One's bootloader is unlockable through HTCdev. Possible exception of the AT&T model. Pretty much all phones come with locked bootloaders (yes, even the Nexus line). What matters is that the manufacturer allows you to easily unlock it.

Switch to Virgin Mobile from T-Mobile by 5/31, Get $100 credit

The only reason to do this is if T-mobile coverage sucks in your area. Otherwise, T-mobile's phone selection is better (by virtue of being a GSM network), and their network is much faster.

But it's golden if you're low-usage. Show me anywhere else I can get a plan with 100MB of data for less than $20 a month (T-mo wants $30 for 5 gigs, which is a really good deal, unless you're the person who barely uses 50MB a month). Pretty much no one else caters to low-usage as well as ting.

Small tablet recommendation?

I'd go with the Nexus 7. Owning one myself, it's a great little tablet. It's got a better OS than the Kindle Fire (real, stock, Android 4.2), and a better screen and better processor than the Galaxy Tab.

Recommend a good, CHEAP tablet...

I'm pretty sure it's not going to go lower than that - the profit margins are probably really tight at $199 considering what you're getting (Tegra 3, 1280x800 IPS screen, etc.) As for buying them used, you might be able to find a used 8GB for somewhat lower, though a lot of the early Nexus 7s...

If you really like matte screens, look at the business-end laptops - Lenovo Thinkpads, Dell Latitudes and Precisions, and HP Elitebooks. They're generally more expensive than consumer-end laptops, but the build-quality, repairability, and support are much better.

Seeking a multi-tasking laptop

Also go for the highest screen resolution your eyes can handle (probably a 1080p display on a 15"). With Windows 7 onwards, the side-by-side windows feature is incredible for multitasking, and that feature really benefits from a high-res display.
