just found a backdoor virus on system, help!!!!!!

Well, it's a trojan, not a worm, so it didn't necessarily come as an email attachment, although that remains a possibility. It could have been wrapped around a perfectly normal application, for instance - at least that's what "classic" trojans do.

Game Droughts WHY!

Neverwinter Nights, that definitely is one of those extraordinary games. I didn't play it a whole lot, but the 20 to 30 odd hours I played its main campaign co-op with a friend were awesome.

You won't find a command.exe on a normal Windows system, but try looking for command.com and you might be surprised. :) And thus, running command does not start cmd.exe (which would greet you with the words "Microsoft Windows XP"), it starts command.com and greets you with "Microsoft(R) Windows...

The easiest way to File Transfer????

Just for reference, sending a large file as an attachment to an email is a bad idea since the encoded version of the file which is transferred is significantly larger (like 30%) than the original file. Also, most email programs aren't designed to download attachments larger than a megabyte or...

The easiest way to File Transfer????

I don't know about AIM, but ICQ (for Windows) is able to resume file transfers, and has been for a long time. Setting up an FTP or HTTP server is certainly a good solution, but it takes some time to set up properly. Snail-mailing her a CD is another idea. ;)

DivX or other codecs for linux ??

Arr. I got DivX to work on Debian just a few days ago, but it was all a bit weird, even though apt-get helped a lot. Basically, install xine. I think it does DivX out of the box, so you'd be set. There's also mplayer, which is supposed to be better than xine, but I was too dumb to get it to work...

Apache vs. IIS

Unless you're dependant on MS technology like ASP go for Apache. You still can go for either Apache 1.3 or Apache 2.0, both are fine if you're just looking for a "plain" web server, while Apache 1.3 has better support for add-on modules.

Go for it, absolutely. The GF3 Ti200 is a great card, and I'm quite sure it'll run UT2003 at 1024x768 just fine. Unlike GF4 MX based cards, it's also DirectX 8 hardware, so you get pixel shaders and everything.
