Nikon DL series still not released....

I didn't pre-order the 24-85, but was really looking forward to it. Now I'm wondering what will see the market first, the LX200 from Panasonic or the Nikon DL options. I guess it is not so bad to keep my money in my pocket a bit longer. :)

Lens for shooting football pics from stands

I never had an issue using 55-250 at full zoom with an OVF, and I am not some expert shooter. Different story with super-zoom cams with EVFs, where you are getting out to 600mm+.

Adapter for External BR/DVD player

I just removed my BR/DVD drive from my dead PC. It has SATA power and data connections, 15 and 7 pin. I'm looking for an adapter that will allow me to power the drive and connect via USB to other devices. I see options that are meant for HDDs or SSDs, but not specifically for BR/DVD drive...

I agree with those saying that the 55-250 will do a nice job in good light. I had the older model and the 70-200/4, and sold the 70-200 because the size and weight were not worth the gain in IQ. As for IS, I don't think you need it for sports. Assuming you are shooting at 800+ shutter speed...

Baseball Mogul can be interesting and addicting. You run a franchise, design your stadium, set prices, sign free agents and draft prospects, but you can also play games down to the pitch level. Historical players back before Babe Ruth iirc. They usually have a new version for each baseball...

definitely go with a unit that has external mic option. big upgrade to your audio, which seems critical for your use. In the $500ish range I'm not sure the quality and performance differences are significant. I'd just search for the features you want. Sony, Panasonic and Canon are all very good.

iPods still too small.....

I've embraced Pandora and not having to decide which song/artist/album to listen to. But I get the issue. How about an SD card slot? Or, better yet, a mini-disk slot. I could get that lost format out of the closet and be set. :)

I've owned Emotiva and thought pretty highly of it, but I'm not sure I'd recommend them to someone in India. My sense is they tend to need repair a bit more than some typical brands. They seem to take good care of their customers here in the US, but not sure how that would translate half way...

I think the Ascends + Rythmik combo blow away the typical brands in terms of overall value, but if logistics are an issue and preference is to buy local the brands mentioned by the OP are all certainly solid (at least). Best bet is to try and hear the speakers and the AVR you are considering...

Good camcorder/camera with slow motion + at least 720p video?

A cheap P&S to consider is the Canon SX230HS. Full HD video + 30 sec slow mo clips at 120 or 240fps, though res drops to 640x480 and 320x240 respectively. I keep this camera only because of the slow-mo capabilities. Just for fun -- not sure it cuts it as a serious tool though.

I agree. I think if you want serious bass you need to go with on-ear models and be ready to spend much bigger dollars. Serious bass on the cheap has always sounded very bad to my ears.

For noob clarity --- I'm assuming when it is stated that you must stream Plex off a server to the Roku 3 that it can simply be Plex loaded on the PC where you have your content stored? That seems like not a very big deal.

LG now selling 55-inch Curved OLED TV in South Korea

I'm expecting 4K to be slow in coming in the US. Upgrading to some sort of HD was compelling, obvious and eventually cheap. I don't think 4K will enjoy that same pathway.
