  1. Titans sold out :(

As far as the 7970ghz CFX comparisons here, I think a lot of this is driver problems that can be fixed. I'm not out here to defend or bash either company, but amd's cfx driver optimization is awful as it stands right now but there is definitely the possibility that it could get much better.
  2. Strange GTX570 SLI failure - 2 cards die simultaneously - Crysis3?

Damn, I've only seen that happen once before, the solder melting is indicative of a massive card failure. There are hardware safeguards on most video cards to prevent that from happening and those seem to be defective. Now for what actually got the card to that point, that is another story...
  3. Solid upgrade for only $90?

I don't know about that, I sold both of my 6870s on ebay a few weeks ago and one went for 110 and the other for 98 and a 6950 should be more expensive.
  4. Need a new Key board

I honestly like MX Blues for everything, even for gaming and not because it's annoying to the people I'm in skype with (teehee). The serious tactile feedback tends to help me play better at least.
  5. When will ATI 8000 or GTX 700 series will release??

We'll probably hear more as next gen consoles get closer to a release date
  6. Noctua NF-F12 and Corsair H80i

So I'm planning to build a somewhat SFF rig, a bitfenix prodigy case, and have some serious considerations about the cooling. One of them is the CPU cooling system. I plan on using an H80i since it has a relatively thick 120mm radiator which will fit perfect on the front of the case as an...
  7. Assistance with Purchase of Video Card for new system build

get the 7950, you will be happy for quite awhile
  8. mini itx build, what do you think?

How about noctua NF-F12s, anyone have experience with those as intake fans
  9. Nvidia driver crash and recover

What you are describing usually comes from either faulty circuitry or unstable overclocks assuming the drivers are working right
  10. Got GTX-Titan?

  11. Need suggestions on air compressor to clean out dust

you have a big case and lots of stuff to clean out, so the main problem you will have is with the gas dusters (the canned air ones) losing pressure due to becoming too cold. I have a case that's close to the same as yours and what I do is just buy 3 or 4 of whatever gas duster they have at the...
  12. mini itx build, what do you think?

Updated the build a bit, someone let me know if there is a reason to not use those Cougar case fans
  13. Got GTX-Titan?

Sometimes it sucks to be a college student, I only had enough money to buy one and that was hard enough to budget right
  14. Well...my computer can't handle Crysis 3 at 1920X1080. Advice?

Crysis 3 is a very GPU intensive game, most single GPU configs won't cut the mustard at high-ish settings even at 1080p. The best thing to do in this case is to bite the bullet and go for a multi GPU setup, I would recommend nVidia becasue crossfire drivers a bit wonky at the moment and no one...
  15. Lapdesk for Overheating GPU

Those laptop cooler stands don't really do anything unless they direct air to the intakes which doesn't happen on a lot of laptops. If you are experiencing overheating issues now that you haven't experienced in the past, then it means the airflow inside your system is blocked. Clean out the...
  16. Newegg

AS the other person said, it's a logistics thing. Not every warehouse contains the exact same inventory and some don't have certain items that other ones do at some given time. As far as shipping goes, who knows why they used different shipping services, but both packages should come around...
  17. Need a computer for business use

The problem with adding memory is that it is usually a crap shoot. Sometimes different kits will work well together, sometimes they don't
  18. Thoughts on case and motherboard

If you really must have some performance then go for the 3770k and grab a p8 motherboard
  19. $1500 Gaming Desktop Budget

If you are going for a single gpu I would recommend a 7970, a ghz one f you can afford it
  20. noob question about possible bottlenecking GTX 690

Contrary to what a lot of people here are saying, you probably won't be bottlenecked too hard except for a few choice games like the new hitman. Other than that you will probabaly run out of GPU horsepower before your CPU starts to show real performance issues especially at triple monitor...
  21. mini itx build, what do you think?

They do sell a windowed panel but I'm going to do this mod myself so I can leave some of the perforations there to aid in GPU cooling
  22. GPU Purchasing Advice

I hate to be that guy, but, I would recommend against updating pieces in that rig of yours. Considering that you want to play some resource intense games (IE crysis 3) you are better off saving your money for a whole new build with more recent hardware.
  23. Finally building a new system, looking for advice on components

you might as well go for better ram, the one that you posted is kind o slow.
  24. mini itx build, what do you think?

I made a theoretical air flow diagram for this build: And I'm modeling my case after this mod:
  25. Air filters and animals

I've actually done what mfenn suggested several times on lower budget builds for people, you just have to remember to replace the sheets every now and then
  26. mini itx build, what do you think?

Yeah I probably could, I just have to find someone with a dremel tool since I don't have one anymore
  27. mini itx build, what do you think?

I was looking around for window panels on the case and found this at frozen CPU http://www.frozencpu.com/products/17613/cst-1349/BitFenix_Prodigy_Mini-ITX_Tower_Computer_Case_-_Midnight_Black_w_Bolt-On_Window.html?tl=c7s429b193 anyone else have any experience with frozencpu's modded cases?
  28. $1000 mitx gaming build

Yeah I refreshed my memory on them, turns out they're just higher binned chips and tend to be more expensive
  29. The mini-itx laptop.

Custom cases are a lot of fun to build, albeit time consuming. Considering what you want, a custom case is what you will have to settle with
  30. Old PC powers on but does not send image to monitor.

Yeah, just remove the CMOS battery and try to boot (with the gpu out still), see what happens
  31. Old HDD/ODD

I have one thing to say: Ugh, ribbon cables
  32. For the first time in 15 years i see nothing interesting on the horizon for PC!

I'm actually planning a mini-itx build, while expensive (around 2.3k) will still plop itself right into the high end side of things (look at the "Noisy Cricket" build). Mini-itx has come a long way as of late and can even rival many big high end enthusiast gaming systems, especially with the...
  33. Power supply advice needed

http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp This is a great tool to get a rough idea of what you should get as far as power supplies go I would say for for at least a 550 - 600 for the initial build and add 150 to that if you want to add a second cpu
  34. $1000 mitx gaming build

I edited my above post to give some more accurate responses
  35. $1000 mitx gaming build

From what I remember, xeon's are meant to be workstation CPUs which usually means that while they are absolutely GREAT at being accurate and doing "workstationy" things, as far as gaming goes they generally are not the best choice, although that might have changed over the past few generations...
  36. mini itx build, what do you think?

I was weighing in between the vector and the 840 pro, I still haven't quite decided which one I'm going to put in yet
  37. mini itx build, what do you think?

Definitely not going to run windows 8, some of my projects require a manual memory mapping solution and I really don't want to rewrite the whole damn thing to work on windows 8
  38. AMD Gaming PC........Is this a good build ???

As far as gaming is concerned, the GPU tends to be the most important factor. That being said, the one that you are getting should be sufficient for at least mid settings at 1080p resolutions for many games. Any higher and you might run into some serious framerate issues
  39. AMD Eyefinity

I'm pretty sure you have to set them all to the same resolution
  40. Why does GPGPU still suck so bad?

Here is a good answer on what double precision actually means: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/801117/whats-the-difference-between-a-single-precision-and-double-precision-floating-p
