Help selecting an external 1TB hard drive.

I've been using WD My Passport 1TB Portable Drive USB 3.0 for a while and it's awesome. It doesn't require external power and it comes with hardware encryption software for data protection. http://www.amazon.com/Passport-Porta.../dp/B006Y5UV4A

Yep, it runs great - I was under impression that 4K read should have been better than 4K write but that doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks!

I read it but didn't go that far! I'm happy with overall performance of this SSD so I guess I'll stop doing any further tests. Thanks for the input!

Updated drivers to Intel SATA AHCI Controller and even though the overall score got bit better, the 4K read is pretty much the same. Not sure if this is the best it can get as others have mentioned here (thanks everyone for you feedback!). Updated Score: Updated Device Manager...

Thanks! Going to try this now. Originally I had Windows 7 and I upgraded to Windows 8 and not sure if I installed all the Dell recommended driver that were there previously.

Thanks! I did hoping that it would improve the speed but instead it reduced both read and write speed by 15%! :confused:

How to clone my hd?

I've been using EaseUs ToDo Backup Free edition for 2 years now it's super easy. You can even clone from smaller to larger drive (or other way) which is otherwise a pain since most cloning applications do not support it. http://download.cnet.com/EaseUS-Todo-Backup-Free/3000-2242_4-10964460.html
