I've noticed that when I power off the pc, and not do it a restart the card works ok. Maybe this will help to find out what's happening.

The rest of my system is xfx 750w pro psu, 8GB (2x4GB) Ram, 2 HDD and 2 optical drives. When it boots in system, sometimes it doesn't recognize the card, it says Microsoft basic display adapter, in device manager. The A0 code exists even when the windows are fully booted.

Just seen that intel is going to release 4820k in Q3. Wouldn't be better to invest in a 3820 now and x79 motherboard, since the next gen cpus will be supported in the current motherboards. I say for example something like this: ASRock Fatal1ty X79 Professional and 3820. What do you say?

No, I don't have any issues with the on board audio. It's pretty good. Just wondered about, if I have a better quality by buying a dedicated sound card. So I will not buy an extra one.

Running a graphics card in the "wrong" PCIe - any problems?

Modern cards, don't take full advantage of bandwidth that offered in PCI-e 3. You won't see any performance drops and if there are there will be nothing. More or less about 0.5-2 frames. A pci-e 3 @ 8x is like a pci-e 2 @ 16x. See here...
