You need a systemmatic approch to the problem. Order I would rank the likelyhood of fixing your problem is for me as follows Bad memory I have seen this too many times if Windows will not install from the optical drive check your memory with memtest86 Make sure the bios power and timeings...

Problem Regarding Wireless Connection

Have you added any wireless phones to your home? 2.4Ghz wireless devices compete with the same bandwith of the 802.11G spectrum. Change the channel your router channel and see if that helps.

Vista USB issue

Had the same thing on a Compaq laptop. Woud not load USB drivers from any device. I wiped and reloaded and that fixed it. I know that is extreem but the laptop was full of HP/Compaq crapware also. Not only did it fix the USB problem the comuter is much snapper now!

New system will not post.

One thing that can prevent post is an older bios that does not "know" your cpu type. This can cause the symtoms you describe. Do you have an older cpu that you can test with? If you do and the MB posts, flash your bios, put the new cpu back in and it will post. Keep in mind this is only One of...

BSOD on boot when SATA in AHCI mode

Just my 2 cents worth dont bother installing AHCI mode if your hard drive does not support NCQ (Native Command Queing) in the SATA spec. If you do you the drive performance will be absymal. I will second Virge statments you can not change modes without a fresh install. I know it is a pain!

DX10 worth killing EAX!!

I play FPS in Vista X64 no problem I use a Razer sound card. Doing just as well as I was in XP LOL. You just don't need hardware acceleration in my opinion. BTW I will put in a plug for the Razer AC-1 a wonderful sound card.

Finally made the move to Windows Vista 64 bit over Vista 32 bit again

Leave Creative behind as Vista does not support hardware sound acceleration. I picked up a Razer AC-1 on Woot.com for $50. The best Sound Card I have ever owned. they have the drivers for Vista X64 and work with no problems. Just my 2 cents.

Motherboard making weird sounds when computer is off

I would say it is a Fan in the power supply cycling on and off. Perhaps it is rubbing on something. The P/S is allways on and has voltage applied to the mb even if the computer is turned off in modern ATX PC's.

Need help starting a dell 4550 after a short move

I had the same problem on a Dell after I put in a firewire card. It would not boot up the P/s crapped out. A royal pain, put in a new ps and everything is ok.

Driver for HP Omnibook 4100 IBM ITXG74 lcd display

The only video driver in that driver set is for the neomagic 128XD video adaptor not the LCD display panel it self! The standard 800X600 LCD driver does not work well and does not fill the screen fully! I need the IBM lcd driver!

Ohh the pain!!! it hurtsss :(:(

The stratagy I use is to back up all my data files, favorites, my docs, drivers, quicken, office, ect ect to one RW DVD that I recreate on Monday every week! I also Ghost my c: onto my d: once a week also! The DVD burn contains all the data and drivers and the ghost image is for disastaers!

Even though mem test passed If you have more that one dimm I would revome them one at a time to see if you can get XP to install. Every time I have had a problem with installing Windows OS it has ALLWAYS been memory at fault. You could check and see that the memory clock settings are at default...

WindowsXP on one drive, Apps on another.

Keep your Ghost up to date and all programs will work. The way I do it is to install XP and all apps on c: 30GB drive and Ghost to D: a 60gb drive for pics, games, dvd encoding ect. It takes 20 min to do the ghost aprox 10gb and only 15 to restore. Of course I have to reinstall any games...

firewire detection problems; please help

I have used many different venders of motherboards, Soyo, Abit, MSI, Albatron, Biostar. The best of the lot in my opinion is the Albatron rock stable and a great over clocker. They are dirt cheep to boot.

I can't get computer to bootup past memory test

Unplug any USB devices. I had the exact problem and was caused by a faulty usb scanner of all things. It freezes boot after memory is displayed and before the hard drives are detected. BTW this happened after about a year of using this scanner.
