Speculation: Ryzen 3000 series

The 8 core and under prices seem market reasonable but your price speculation above that makes no sense. Adding one additional 8 core chiplet wouldnt cost more as the whole 8 cpu. 299 vs 699. I would expect to see the base 12 core at 400-450 and the base 16 at 600 or less. Also I'm not convinced...

Equal performing products at same price? I would buy AMD. I believe they have better drivers at this point ( just a belief, since I currently run NVIDIA but NVIDIA experience hasnt been that impressive and I have had to rollback drivers many times). AMD GPU architecture does seem to age better...

1080 Ti? Wait for Vega? Curious what you guys think.

No one really knows how well AMD will perform at this point. If you want a guarantee, just go NVIDIA, you can buy something today and even if you dont have the performance lead in two months at least you will still have many more forum friends.

Buy the GPU first. GIve AMD a couple more months to sort out Ryzen. As a bonus you will have a better idea which AM4 motherboard actually works best and likely some more newly released ones. Might even benefit from slightly more mature silicon too. edit: just realized this thread was in the DC...

Newest NVidia driver that works with GTX950, is from July 2016???

look here: http://www.nvidia.com/download/find.aspx You can eventually get there from the Nvidia front page if you select "All NVIDIA drivers" instead of the more logical "GeForce" drop down option. Then select "Beta and Older" to see them all. Bottom line is the site is crap for ease of use.

I doubt that since they had to anticipate AIB OC versions of the card to fill the $300 segment. Initial binning had to be done to find those chips, but I am suprised by the wide variance in the reference chips. Been a long time since we had a new process and this type of thing has happened...
