2008 r2 how do I get a program to stay active.

Have you considered using a different FTP application, Filezilla is freeware and runs as windows service, I wouldn't recomomend converting a program as a service, while fully possible, losing the front end to an application that is designed to use it is never fun (you'll never know if you've had...

I try to avoid them where possible, but I've never had any problems using them either (eg, my home is rented, so I won't stick a load of structured cabling in for the landlords benefit), never done any huge testing as I've never had to, net connection is fine, can stream and skype, don't really...

Setting up a patch network

If you're adamant on doing this yoursekf, first look at a cheap network tester on ebay, while you won't get any great info out of it, you'll be able to spot any crossed over cables, then you'll want an IDC Professional Cronin tool, I'd recommend buying a few of these as if they break half way...

Extremely weird issue with Ping, randomly gives Host not found...help!

I'd say there's something wrong with your DNS Somewhere, might be worth checking DHCP Scope to see if the correct DNS server is being used, also check your DNS Server, for any ropey looking entries :)

you could also just buy an external HP Jetdirect box, and plug your printer into your router via ethernet... (Then clients connect via wifi to printer) - this will be probably be the cheapest option, get googling :)
