ok this is what happend
by converting your "D" drive windows98 only see's 2 drive (c:=500Mb) and your (D) drive that is actualy your (e) drive but since windows 98 doesn't see NTFS by default it goes back to "D"
a very simple solution is to reduce the size of your C drive...
If you look around a will soon find out that Microsoft's service pack 4 is the worst service pack out there, i strongly suggest SP3 or or SP6,
Where i work we had all are workstation installed whit SP4 and for no reason on morning some PC coulnd connect to the network after a couple of day we...
My guess would be the phone jack or even the wire.
reason:
if your god computer can connect on one jack and not the other then you can rule out your computer(modem, drivers and software)
if you use the same phone cable on the to jack's you could also rule out you phone cable,
so what's left...
Wins = Windows Internet Name Service, it's use to resolve the NETBIOS name ( ex: computer name) over a network, so if it's for the Net you wont need it :D
