Those figures seem very optimistic, I have to look more into Haswell and analyze the data. Thanks for asking. I don't really mind carrying heavier stuff, that'd be sport-y. I'm looking for fast program/OS startup times and fast page load times. My last (current) PC has an i5 Ivy, SATA2 HDD...

Theoretically that should increase the battery life. I wonder how much the equivalent of the standard i5 variant laptop Ivy will cost, I have a feeling it'll be a couple hundred bucks more.

Yea, something came through, so my budget increased. Any idea about what'll come with Haswell? 1-2 sounds fluid, kinda reminds me of those times when you wait until the end of the year. I wouldn't mind waiting for 1-2 months THAT much though, I mean it's possible, even though uncomfortable...

I need a USB stick to have live OS in and to store various data. I know that the "average" USB sticks are usually pretty bad... So what would you recommend? I'd like something like 16-32-64GB, I'm not sure about the prices (and I don't want to break my wallet), so I'm not sure which one I'll be...

Tried scannow trice actually. Just tried verifyonly, it also crashed on 49%.

Bad Company 2 is still such a fun game!

Comes down to preference. I focus on the future, I always like new stuff, unless its overall quality's worse. Map design isn't the only thing in a game, for me at least.

Sorry, I misspelled. I meant sfc/scannow. I'm running 7 Home Premium x64. In C, there's 4.2Gb free, out of 31Gb. Chkdsk passes with no errors, by the way.

Do certs really help?

I think they work as an addition to formal education, and are below experience. Though if you have any friends/connections, they may just give you the little advantage of showing that you actually know the stuff and that they can give you a position that you won't screw up. Would like to get...

scandisk doesn't work...?

sfc/scandisk gets stuck on 49%, then after a while it just says that it cannot be completed. Why could that be? And how exactly does it work? Tried in safe mode too, didn't help.

@vbuggy are you using WS 2012 on a laptop or a touchscreen external monitor? Just wondering how it'd look on a laptop, or in VirtualBox.

okay so I removed the HD but it still thinks WIndows Vista is there

Probably directly really related, but... I've inserted Windows 7 disk into my old computer the other day and formatted the disk in the installation process. Then I just shut it off, took the disk out and when I'm trying to boot it, it just says that the installation is corrupt instead of that I...

Get CS:GO for PC or not?

Don't think you'll enjoy CSS much with CSGO in your hands. But anyway, CS requires practice, unless your reaction and motor skills are really bad. You don't "just are good" at such things.

Any good programs that could make my PC run faster?

The only upgrade that I see is an SSD, or a 7200RPM SATA3 HDD. Or both. Software-wise, if it got slower, simplest solution is to reinstall your OS.

I know that the PSUs that come with PC cases suck. Badly. But how bad do they suck, really? If you aren't going to overclock and not gonna push the wattage (single GPU, with a 750W cheap case PSU for example), is it really that bad? I've seen many run for years, even for 24/7 use. What's up with...

At least where I live, most people just don't care about upgrading. "Does it work?" "Yes." "Then why would you want to change it?" In short, I know a few people with ~10 year old computers who refuse to upgrade them only because they are still working.

Depends on what it is you play, but most newer games work better with more cores, so 2-core would be a downgrade.
