Wireless issues, considering a Ubiquiti system

Considering the number of devices you have I'm assuming you have some money. If that's true then Cisco has recently released the 1800 AP series, which are kinda aimed and the Small Business market, and are "easy" enough to set up. I'm biased a bit as I work with Cisco gear, but for durance and...

Can this be made to work??....

An address in the 169.254.x.x range means, for all intents and purposes, that there is something wrong, either with the printer configuration, or with the network configuration. Find out what the network is for other machines that are on the same LAN as the printer, and currently can print, if...

site-to-site tunnel not forming please help

I am not aware of any way to test this without directing traffic through the tunnel. You could include a new IP range in the access-lists and direct that traffic through to see if the tunnel forms, but otherwise, traffic will always follow the rules and go through the MPLS path as that is more...

I agree with drebo, Palo Alto is the box you want. May not be as snappy as you'd like but it's one of the best firewalls out there.

DSL Connection drops ... a LOT

Not saying that this will fix your issues, just saying that it might. It was a Cisco 887 box if I recall correctly. Linksys are pretty much same as other consumer devices. Cisco boxes are mostly enterprise, even the "cheaper" ones. Can make a difference.

I have replaced a no-name ADSL router with line problems, with a Cisco box that then had no problems. Might well be the box.

    Help Me Understand Switches

Could be a number of things configured on the port, but no ports will "blow up". At worst you'd have to shut down the ports in question and then turn them back on to get the thing going again.

Computer with Wifi, can ping websites, but cant browse them

Your devices are not using a routing protocol. They route statically. Change the MTU on your computer or set the Netgear to bridge mode.

Computer with Wifi, can ping websites, but cant browse them

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/900926 Look at method 3 in the above article about how to set your maximum MTU size. Ping your way to what the max allowed MTU is now (like ping -l 1476) and set the size accordingly. This should fix your problem I think.

Computer with Wifi, can ping websites, but cant browse them

Harrod has an interesting idea. You can try: ping 8.8.8.8 -l 1500 and see if that works. If not, try lowering the number until you've found what is allowed through.

What changes did you make ? If you want a quick solution, post the source and destination addresses and the rule you say allows the traffic. If there are ports involved in the rule, post source and destination ports again with their relative IP addresses.

Allow ESP traffic thru Cisco IOS zone based firewall

In that case, does the phone know how to "phone home" ? Other words, is your phone initiating the connection or the remote office ? Because if its your phone, you would have to look from inside out. Have you tried adding an inspection rule for ESP from inside out ?

Allow ESP traffic thru Cisco IOS zone based firewall

Actually I think you are right, and that I am the one that is confused. Have you looked at the NAT configuration ? As in, is the phone supposed to receive the ESP packet, or the router ? If its the phone, you'd have to create a static NAT translation from your public IP to the phone for the...

Allow ESP traffic thru Cisco IOS zone based firewall

you'd have to create an access-list and apply it to the interface you are expecting the ESP packets from. You would allow the ESP protocol access, it is not done through IP port numbers. Example: ip access-list extended outside-in permit esp any any

    Supernetting...

You mean that 192.168.15.2-30 are reserved right ? First of all, from the network perspective, expanding the subnet to a /22 is not recommended. It would be better to use VLANs. Whether that is the recommended course for you depends on the size and budget of your firm. That out of the way...

    Someone stealing my wifi...

I think I'm right in saying that most home networking devices don't have a MAC ban list, but rather a MAC permit list. If you find one, you can allow MAC addresses to your network and all others will be banned. Also makes more sense.

    Accessing network from external IP

It would be better for you not to advertise free access to your network on the internet. As for your question, if you can connect to your router from the outside, you might be able to go from there to other devices. Or your can port forward to a device on the internal network that has access...

    NAT translating FTP port

You'll have to make a static translation from the outside IP address towards the inside IP address on the specific port you are using. Something like: ip nat inside source static tcp 192.168.1.175 21 212.159.x.x 21 which would effectively create a translation for all hits on that port for the...

Site-to-Site VPN | How to do it?

Best thing for you to do would be to get a VPN client, some kind of IPSec client, and use it to gain access to their network. No need for site to site if its only you who need access to their network.

    ip routing question

Think you might have to scratch what I said. I did a little test in Cisco Packet Tracer, and realized that you would need IP addresses on both routers on both subnets for this to work. That is, Router A must have an interface with 10.45.1.x and another one with 10.1.10.x IP address, and router B...

    ip routing question

I'm pretty sure you can't route this over the internet, since both are private IP addresses, but you might be able to create an internal route on the routers to point to the other subnet. If the switch is Layer 2 only, then I would think that the route would already exist on the routers, since...

    ip routing question

Is that switch configurable or are you trying to go through the WAN routers ? Gonna assume that it is configurable since otherwise this network would not run very well. If the switch is Layer 3 capable then the routing should be done there, and you would point to a VLAN as a destination...

    Network question

Just don't connect them in a loop, as in with two cables that would create a loop, and possibly crash your network, or at least slow it down considerably. As long as you "daisy chain" them, as in one link to the other, and then one link from that to the devices, your golden.
  34. L

    Network question

It is ok. Network slowdown will be minimal and this is really a very common way of doing things. Its not optimal in a business environment but for your personal needs you'll be more than ok. Just make sure you don't loop the switches and all will be well.
