Help with case recommendation

Currently, I'm going with the i7 Haswell, but it does not yet support 64 Gb of RAM. When there are newer models of this line released, I might pick one up. This would then also require a new mobo, and I'll resell my CPU/mobo at that time. I just didn't want to wait another 6 months or so till...

AMD 7970 v Nvidia GTX 770

Well, my main concern in posting this thread was value, and I gotta say, so far I'm quite satisfied. I can afford decent parts, but at the same time, I don't think it's too wise spending almost $1000 on the highest end cards, I can find better ways to spend it ;) The 7970 will serve me fine...

AMD 7970 v Nvidia GTX 770

I'm seriously considering getting a 2nd 7970 Vapor-X, just wondering if it will fit OK on a Maximus VI Extreme? I've read some comments on other threads saying these cards are a bit bulky and cause problems in a multi GPU setup. Anyone got these in Crossfire right now?

There's also an additional coupon available on Newegg, which made the final price $327 with rebate, I finally bit :p Well, this will do until the next refresh, will rethink getting a new GPU with the new architecture then. Might just get me another for Crossfire, depending how I feel later on.

Buyer's remorse

I was very interested to read your post, as I am currently in the process of assembling a new rig to replace my admittedly ancient setup. I'm grappling between getting two mid-level cards, or going for one single 780, and really having to think several times on it. Let us know what you decide...

Yeap, and also virtualization (VT-d). For me specifically that's a deal breaker, because of my work.

Well, I'm going to take some time to put my rig together, especially since I'm waiting on some good deals on GPU and RAM. I'd go with the 4770 right now, unless something else is released within the next month or so. Cheers for the info, eh? ;)

I guess I'm a bit suspicious, but seeing it on sale at multiple sites makes me think there's some reason they're offloading it, rather than the goodness of their hearts. The earlier comment about the size of the shroud and awkwardness in trying to setup an dual GPU config has pretty much sold...

Thanks for the input. I was seriously considering the Sapphire card, but the fact that it's on discount on both Amazon and Newegg has me spooked, plus the number of RMA comments on both sites. You have a good point about the aftermarket premium, just that I normally don't like to mess about...

Interesting points there, as for the older platform, not really keen on it, as I'm looking to future proof this build to some extent. Server versions of the processor would be great for work (could even spring for a dual CPU mobo), but somehow I doubt the gaming portion of it would work as well?
