Enermax Noisetaker high-pitch noise problem

it is probably a defective unit... my 430( or was it 425) doesnt' make any noise, even at maxed out fan speed.... for me, it is quieter than my old antec tru330. Mike

yeah, the is7/IC7 should both work well for you... Buuut... The outpost.com price is okay for the is7, but the fry's in store price is $120, not a good deal... The iC7 for $140 at pc club isn't exactly a good price either... they charge restockign fee, so you might just want to newegg or zzf...

is7/ic7 and their variants, as well as the p4p800 seem to be good choices for hitting 300 or near 300 fsb... I'm currently testing out a new 2.4C m0 chip at 288 with an is7 currently. Duvie seems to get great results using IC7's. mike

well, offhand, unless you're using extreme cooling, the latest 2.6 Stepping is a D1, and you can probably squeeze out 3.4ghz out of the chip, but it isn't likely to hit 300fsb with a 2.6C. now, if you can find a 2.4C m0 or 2.8C m0 chip (Stepping codes SL6Z3 and SL6Z5 respectively), your chances...

300 in fsb? with a 2.4C or similiar chip? (A 2.4C @300fsb = 3.6ghz, 2.8C @ 300fsb is 4ghz, the prior being much more easily attainable, but still not always a given). There's a handful of poeple that have, however, gotten a 2.8C M0 chip to around 3.8-4.0Ghz range Mike

how much of an o/c are you aiming for? I went through 2 Ai7's, and neither could reliably hit over 285 FSB (i have a 2.4C that will run at 301 fsb, so it was a bummer)... Mike

433 for the ram at DDR, but it is ~217.5 in terms or regular FSB... however, you can run the ram at 5:4 Cpu/Ram fsb ratio, and get some more o/c out of that chip... Good luck with the AI7. Mike

well... after a few days of dealing with the Ai7 (two of them, in fact), i am less than satisfied.. .my IS7 did significanly better in o/c... the AI7 could only take my 2.4C M0 chip to 3.325ghz or so (prime stable for 6 hours, didn't wait to let it go longer), and the 2.8C m0 chip to 3.3ghz...

Hey Duvie, Already checked it... and swapped it out for my IS7 nbridge heatsink just in case it was an AI7 heatsink problem (they were identical heatsinks). Used AS Ceramique on the nbridge heatsink, but i think i've found my problem.. i can do 285ish 5:4, but for some reason, not with 3:2...

well, the reason i'm "not" recommending it is i've lost roughly 200mhz of o/c versus my is7... So.. while it is the center of the core that matters... something is making me lose some o/c... and i dunno what it is yet... Mike P.S. My opinion on this is likely to change within hte next few...

Barton 2600+s are 1.9ghz by default, 11.5 X 166 multiplier and fsb. 2.4ghz on default voltage is probably a bit of a stretch ;). They are locked multiplier (had a week 41 one a few weeks back). It is nice to dream though :D Mike

no, they don't need to be identical. Even in a P4 setup, the system will default to the lower stick SPD settings. And yeah, going from 256mb ram to 512mb of ram will yield very noticeable speed improvements :). For example, I ran dual channel on my nforce 2 temporarily with two hyperx pc3000...

Will a 320W Power supply be ok for an Athlon XP 2500?

myocardia, Published Anandtech benchmarks had it around 1-3%. perhaps you ahd other factors in your performance increasing when runnign dual channel, perhaps faster ram, or you set your ram timings tighter, etc? Mike PS. You don't need identical sticks to run dual channel... I've seen it...

My new p4 2.4c@3.5ghz oddity on Abit IC7 ( non G or max3 )...take a look gives some theories...

Here's a vote for the Zalman CNPS 7000 Cu. Running one now on an IS7 /2.4C M0 stepping, at 288 fsb (roughly 3.45ghz) at 1.575V. The fan is very quiet, and it has been stable so far. (temps are roughly 26C over systemp temp with 2 prime95 instances running for now). Will bump up the fsb...

Dual channel DDR doesn't benefit an AMD (even Nforce2) more than a few percent unless you are running onboard video with an NF2 IGP. Otherwise, it is a 1-3% performance difference. I'd go 512mb stick, so you can add another 512mb stick in the future and then run dual channel... if you go with...
