i am going to a 100person lan in a couple of weeks. i allready have a couple of nic's 1 realtek 10mbit coax/utp and a farallon 10mbit utp with a DIGITAL chipset.
the network will be running at 10/100 so i can do both. im not willing to spend a lot extra because im only going for a day. but...
i just bought a gf2 [asus7700] on my old bh6-rev1.0 with a celeron633@950 on it. it was really unstable and i heared that setting agp to 1x instead of 2x helped... so i set it to 1x... its stable now...
the only thing is..... will it hurt my performance... my 3dmark want from 5300 to...
well/.... i set my driver to std.vga adaptor. and then installed them... like its supposed to
i'll be trying 6.31.. but i dont think its the drivers... my tnt2 worked great with 6.49
update: nope it wasnt the drivers. i tried hl-counterstrike but it hung up exactly the same way.
this is really strange.... i have a celeron633@950 on a bh6. i have been running with a tnt2-16mb for a pretty long time to i bought a gf2 3 days ago. now the strange thing is... when i play a 3d game my system totallt randomly hangs. the first thing to happen is my screen says there's no...
stooooopid me
i had it clocked at 220/360 for a benchmark and i forgot to put it back. i think it was the memory that couldn't make it. so i tried it at default and i havent had 1 of those stick-ups yet... im gonna try 210/350 now..
i bought a asus7700 yesterday. all the games run perfectly... i downloaded mechwarrior4 the same day. my problem is: when i am in the game [doesnt matter where... the menu or the game itself] my screen stops working... my monitor suddenly says it has lost its signal from the vid-card. he game...
uhm... << -2 MEGABIT/SEC LOAD ALL DAY, EVERYDAY >>
2mbit divided by 8 is 250kiloBYTES per second.... your getting more then 2x as much :-))
i only get 500kbytes/sec thats 4mbit.
isnt it just 15-17 pc's sharing 1 dsl connection? what if 1 connection has 15 pc's napstering at once and the other has 2.... and maybe the third dsl is doing nothing... it would be muck kewler if you could combine it or something to 1 big connection so that those 17 people will have as fast a...
i dont know... 3mbit... thats not so much.. i think you will be able to do it with your p2. if you allready have the diskspace on it.... i REALLY wouldn't know what could overload a 400mhz 256mb server and freeBSD on a 3mbit line....
its 375 kilobyte/second.. damn.... with the right settings my...
why the hell dump that mobo?
i got a bh6 [even older then your mobo] thats running a celeron633@950 that way you can buy a ge-force2 or something
now that one would REALLY kick more ass then a new mobo with a slower celery
i have a celeron300a in my second pc. it worked great on 450 but with this motherboard its impossible. so it's 300 for me. i was using a standard cooler that i got with it. but the thing makes a lot of noise to i decided to pull the plug... my question.. is it safe to run it at 300 with the fan...
well...... i think a celeron 600+ has to work with a good slotket. compared to your 266 it will be at least 2times as fast. if you can get it cheap go for a 700 or 733 maybe you can oc your way to around 1ghz.... although i think thats not going to work..
i must say the celeron!
i see more celerons hit 1.5 times their clockspeed then i see durons do the same..
so the celeron overclocks the best in my opinion.....
the thing is.... a cheaper duron... say 700@850 will mostly out-perform a celeron 633@950..
so.... the celeron is the best...
it works allright!
i have just about the same
i also had a cel300A@450 now i also have a celery633@950 ALSO running on a slocket3 at 1.85.... damn.... next thing youre going to tell me your using an abit bh6 mobo :-)
uhm, what vid-card do u use? im using a tnt2-16mb and i get around 4000 3dmarks
uhm... about that cheap duron... you can go out and buy a new mobo... but i dont think you will have many upgrade options..... in 3 months all thost things will be 266mhz fsb..
and uhm about that cheap slocket for your celeron.. i also have a bh6-rev1.. i bought a celery633 to replace my...

its an SS bios......
the voltage tweak is right there in your bios..... with the cpu-overclock thingie... on the bottom
another off topic question..... does your bios have a spellin error? with me it says SYTEM instead of SYSTEM... LOL
yeah! my633 now runs stable at 950... i was running it at 790 at std. voltage.. but now its at 1.80volts. i also hava a bh6 so with the newest bios update its a piece of cake
if i can do it anyone can......
PS.
is 1.80volts safe? it seems a bit steep to me... but at 1.75 i get a smaal amount...
the shop only had abits... well i bought one... and its running smoothly at950 with 1.80volts.
i had blue screens with 1.75 volts but that could have been my memory... i had it at cas2 now at cas3..
im gonna try setting it bach to 1.75 now.
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR REPLYS!!!!!!!
without you i wouldnt...
thanks guys. about that 83mhz... thats also my main concern. i dont really care about that 950. i just want it at 100mhz because it will be better with my hd and vidcard. so... ill be trying to get an msi or iwill.. but does anyone have experience with one from abit? ive got an abit mobo.. ant...
i just bought a celeron633 on my old bh6 mobo. its the old version with limited core frequencies. ive got it running up to 790mhz[83mhz].the next step is 950[100]. is that too far fetched? i think it is my slotket adaptor. when i use softfsb to turn it up to 950 the system hangs... i read over...
