Trying to automatically setup printers for a group of users in w2k domain

Maybe another question to ask is "Is there a better way to accomplish what I'm trying to do?". I just need the users to have a printer setup when they login. It would be preferable to have an easy way to change it for groups of users on all workstations but not required. Any insight into this...

I think maybe I didn't explain it very well. The users can run "rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /?" and probably some other switches. The login script will work if I put "rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /?" into the login script instead of "rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /if /b "lj5si" /f...

Well, the error is coming from "rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry". so it seems like they are able to access the login script ok. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have a w2k domain with 2 servers. I have the users in Organizational Units. I have a login script that works fine under administrator for mapping printers at login and unmaping them at logout, but regular users get an access denied error. I found this document on Microsofts website explaining...

Does anyone know what charmapx.exe does?

Yep, I tried that too, but it still didn't find anything. I'm assuming that it is something I don't want. I put it on a floppy and deleted it from my computer. I just hope there aren't anymore remnants of it that I'm missing. Thanks

Can you see anything wrong with this system?

They want to be able to do some video editing and output the display to a TV. Ya it might be a little overkill. I didn't really want to put in an ATI because I've had a few problems with thier drivers and from some of the posts i've read ATI really hasn't fixed thier problems.

I'm building about 50 systems for a client so I want to make sure I don't miss anything. We're looking to make the most stable and reliable system that we can for the least amount of money. It has to be micro ATX because they want a small footprint. I would have liked to have sold an AMD system...

Lockups with ATI TV Wonder

Update - I installed DX8.1 and now I get video and audio again, but it still locks up moving and resizing windows. Back where I started. I think I've pretty much eliminated that a PCI slot could be the issue. FYI - this MB has onboard audio so I couldn't remove it and Ididn't try disabling it...

Thanks for all the info. I'll see what Ican find out this weekend. I also found I left out a very important piece of info. When it locks up, The mouse an KB don't respond but sound still plays. I was also thinking this might be the nvidia VIA XP loop issue. It only happens in the MMC App...

Are PNY video cards manufactured by MSI?

<< MSI charge's PNY more than it costs them to make the actual card, so obviously PNY is going to have to be a bit more expensive to make proper profit. Just because it cost a little more dosent mean it's better. >> Actually at mwave the PNY is cheaper. 156 vs 169 for a TI200

I'm having problems with this one. Just installed it and it seems to work, but it locks up when I try to do certain things. Moving the window, switching between window and full screen (and back), and recording video to HD(anywhere from 40 sec to 90 sec into the recording). the lockup occurs...

Anyone know of a good cheap ISP 56k dialup?

I'm looking for something that is available in Dent MN 56825. Hopefully 50 hours or more for less than $20. I've seen ads for Netzero/Juno, but have found that thier Technical support is nonexistant. Maybe it's changed since then. Has anyone else had experience with Juno/netzero?

IDE Configuration Question

That depends on how you're planning on burning cds. If you are copying cd to cd I would go with the first setup. If you are copying HD to cd I would go with the second setup. That way you don't have 2 devices on he same bus asking for bandwidth at the same time.

difference between raid 0+1 and raid 10?

hmmm, I thought I saw a document a long time ago that specified 0-15, but like you said it was probably propriatary. Anyway, I found some info on Dells site that defines the RAID levels. If I find anymore good ones I'll post em here. Raid Advisory Board

<< [i]the use of RAID 10 is kinda confusing. I generally say 0,1 (numerical order =P) << [i] Raid ten is actually a standard. There are Raid levels 0-15, but 0,1,5, and 0+1 or 10 are the most common.
