SSD error, how to proceed?

That could be the problem what is see with my laptop from the same period with XM-25 is sectors being relocated .. The laptop could be shutting down to fast or not supporting sleep and cause damage to file structure .Could try to extend the shutdown time in reg edit, but i think the old hardware...

Reallocated sector

It should be not a big deal a few relocated sectors as long as it not increase dramatically , but 1 sector is not much . Got in my desktop 2 ssd with both 6 relocated sectors but they function like new .

Well why stop playing a game you like , bf1942 is just as awesome as in beginning . But you need a patch to play on-line today because game spy pulled the plug and it is now only supported by bf1942 community .

800GB of writes in 2 months with page file disabled? (SSD)

It does not matter if page is disabled or on other hd/ssd , the problem is the way the browser use meta-files and put them on system drive . These files are temporarily and invisible but can write a lot , this is one that is used a lot C: \ $ConvertToNonresident .

How many Terabytes do you guys have on your computer?

Using about 300 GB of storage and i am happy it is not very much , it is easy to manage and have several backups . Think complexity increase when data exceeds 1 hd , 4 x 4TB disk should be + 4 x 4TB disk for backup . But a game does not have to be on backup it can just run without backup .

SSD Read Speed Tester

Got higher results when placing certain binary files on ssd and when doing a copy with such a file it exceed max throughput. How that is possible i do not know :confused: Max read of array XM-25 is 800MB and it show 2200MB http://imgur.com/4sXod4U

Windows XP (I searched first)

But it could depend on how many times XP is reactivated again on newer system , my XP is the first release and activated to much over that time, and can only be activated again by phone and that do not work anymore. Got another XP pc that is not to much activated and can be done on line .

How long do you use/keep a laptop?

My laptop acer aspire 9420 is 5+ years and performance is better with ssd and os Vista to 8.1 upgrade. That the point with this kind of hardware it often need some upgrades to perform up to date.

Can you have too much storage?

Think you can not speak of to much storage , but it get complicated by increasing in size to manage with backup in mind . Good example of bad data management are the NASA missing tapes .I am a huge fan of NASA and the Apollo projects , so it is a pity the data is losed ...

Does SSD lose 80-90% gain over HDD without AHCI?

Without AHCI the ssd and hd can do higher que depth and can do Tagged Command Queuing so i think 80 procent is to much . And often the only way to find out is running a benchmark and see the QD score being low .

Logitech Quality

My experience is very good with Logitech , currently using MX 518 and Trackman live RF wireless pointer device from 2001 . I wear out the MX 510 after a lot of abuse and the 518 seem a bit sturdier .

Could be mistaken but i would not hot swap an IDE / PATA hd , it is the design of the Sata connector with Hot-swap capability . Staggered pins allow power in curtain order in the hd to prevent damage to hd/ssd . What if certain pins of the disk connect before other, could be just a microsecond .

The Samsung N145 boot in 25 seconds post bios and 20 seconds without wifi , it has got an ssd inside , And the 875i boot xp in 12 seconds post bios with ssd . and windows 7 it is 11 seconds :)

There is a GF 7300 GO inside , not a very good card but no bottleneck for the labtop . Funny that even my atom netbook gets more points in the windows 7 performance index than the R7 240 :\

But the Video card is no bottleneck with the wright settings ,os and aps ,and the video card in the old laptop outperformed my new R7 240 in Z77 system. Also consider it is a smaller screen than desktop needs lower resolution to see letters good .

Got a laptop with about the same specs and with ssd and it is a lot faster with ssd and the w7 is a good os for ssd and increase the possibility to have AHCI . The bottleneck we all know is the hd inside and it does not matter if it is sata 1/2.3 they are all bottlenecks.
