I have a bootable cd that I need to use for a friend's laptop that has no cd rom or floppy drive. It's a really small Dell Latitude c400 laptop which uses an external enclosure for the cd rom and floppy drives but my friend doesn't have those.
So far I have found this that is a windows tftp...
MMK!? It works now. Only thing I did was put it back together. Some small things I changed was I tightened up the screws on the mobo more than I ususally do and used shorter screws to attatch the power supply in. I'm confused but whatever. Runs rock stable(primin it overnight).
Thanks for...
Oh no when it's inside the case I've tried it without the scsi card(tried it with it also and it fits). Heh, the scsi card is for the tower enclosure that the keyboard and mouse are under(only for external scsi). But I've always been using an IDE drive for the boot drive even when I had it...
Those temps aren't that high although they could be better but they're fine.
Before having to spend any money to get some parts to swap them in and test check your memory with memtest86 or MS's Memory Diagnostic here. I like the MS one because it's pretty simple to use and has worked for me...
The mobo risers are built in at the bottom of the little case. It's just 4 of them and when I first bought it a while back it worked fine. So is the mobo supposed to be grounded or not? I'm a bit confused because it was grounded when I first got it and all of a sudden these problems arose and...
It's a Shuttle SFF comp (socket 370 older version) and when it's inside it's little case it has issues booting up and detecting the hard drive and cdrom but will but takes a really long time. Then once it detects them it won't boot to them.
A month or 2 back it had been having some video...
I have an Antec True 550 PSU that I bought back when I was running a dual MP system with scsi drives. With that said don't jump on me saying there was no reason for buying it for my current setup because I know that.. It seems that some of my voltages are out of range and are disappointing...
I bought a laptop from them and I'm about to use the warrenty to replace the built in wireless on it(centrino). As far as experience I bought a laser printer from them a year or two ago and at one point probably 6 months after I had purchased it the printer had problems with jamming and I got...
That's nice. Duct tape is the greatest thing ever. Perhaps get a roll of that new Scotchtape Clear Duct tape? :) Since I'm a fan of duct tape imma go get a roll of it to try it out. I wonder if it's as strong as the original.
Cool glad you got it working. Yeah there's several ways to get to it. I just checked and Xp pro and Xp home both can get to it the way I said. It's under the Storage section on the left pane. Anyways. Just matters that you got there. :)
Have you check your disk properties? My Computer > manage > disk properties. See if it shows up there. If it does it probably needs to get partitioned and formatted. Just a guess because drives won't show up in your explorer/mycomputer otherwise.
Give it a whirl.
Hm if you're talking about the white teflon tape that sometimes is yellow that is also used for gas pipes....it has no adhesive properties to it. I don't see how you'd attach it on there and it'd probably be too thin and soft to do any good.
They have hole saws of all kinds of sizes. I've used them for 120mm fan holes so I know they're out there. But they don't leave a nice finish as other tools. Personally I like drawing a circle on whatever I need it cut on and drilling a starting hole and using my trusty jigsaw with a fine...
If the WaveMaster was a women I'd....yeah.... :)
It's got my vote.
:P
Not only does it look great. It's really easy to work with. Everything has thumbscrews on it and the mobo tray slides out.
My single raptor benches like 39MB/sec. I don't think that's worth it. I only have a single one because I was short some $$ and had to jack one from my moms comp that I built for her(raid1). :)
I already have an Inline 8 bay external enclosure that I have 3 of these 10k.6 drives in right now along with a tag along maxtor 15k and this isn't a hot swap application. Why wouldnt a hot spare be a good idea? If a drive in a raid 5 crashes can u shut it down and replace the drive and boot...
Eh...I one time heard a whine that I thought was coming from my computer. First thing i thought...my raptor.
Turned out to be my little fridge that I had turned up to max and the compressor had a little whine to it.
:P
haha
Yeah It'd be on 32bit pci unless over the summer I happen to upgrade to a dual xeon server board(which I want to do). :)
I know RAID5 isn't going to be as fast as RAID0 but how does it compare? This would be an array to store my data that I'd like to keep. :) I think I'm gonna try to get a...
Some of you have some nice RAID5 arrays out there and I'd like to see what they're capable of doing. Pics would be nice. I wanna setup 8 seagate 10k.6's (36GB) 1 being a hotspare with a Megaraid Elite 1600 controller and was just wondering how fast it would be. Thanks.
"Grounding problems" heh I wasn't aware of that being a problem but you're probably right. I rigged up a new barton 2500 system in some lady's old gateway case(p3) and so far I haven't gotten a call about it. Since the gateway case had the I/O shield build into the case I had to cut it out and...
My single raptor gets 39MB/s on average. Not too shabby but I plan to upgrade to 2 74GB raptors for raid 0. Don't really care about loosing my data because I wouldn't keep anything important on it.
I've had the 2.1s for a while now. At first they sounded nice but there is just so much port noise on that sub that I took the plateamp off and made my own box and hooked it up to a higher quality 8 inch sub. Works great. Amp hasn't fried because of it even with a 4ohm load on it instead of...
Ok I was using the printer before and it would print fine. I hadn't been using it in a few weeks then today i reinstalled it and when I print anything I get this random text and commands coming out the printer...it prints these endlessly!!! There are no symbols or anything like that.

I'm getting...
"Could not connect to game server
Reason: LAN Servers are restricted to local clients (class C)."
THis is in counterstrike trying to connect to a lan server(dedicated)
I'm at a lan party now with friends and I can connect to the server but they can not.
HELP!!

How do you guys have your 8500's setup? What are your settings under the video properties? How far can you overclock with stock cooling? I just want to try and get the games running their best.
What settings do you use for Serious Sam?(advanced rendering)
I play:
Serious Sam
Unreal...
I just recieved mine and I wanna know now how to optimize the settings for it. What D3D settings are good for UT? Is there any site that can help tweaking the Radeon 8500 to the max? To the Radeon 8500 owners: how do you guys like it?
Thanks
~Joel
<< Oh, BTW I forgot to mention. You said you have seen a Radeon 8500 for $170? I think you are looking at the Radeon 8500 LE, which is only available on OEM and runs slower. It has a lower Core Frequency (250MHZ or something), while the REAL Radeon 8500 runs at 400 MHZ, I think. >>
Hey...
I'm getting a newer video card soon. It's between the Geforce 2 Ti500 and the Radeon 8500. I know the Geforce 3 can beat the Radeon but I've seen radeons @ $170(Radeon 8500). I'm tight on money this time.
thx
~Joel
