D/L site says RBE is "no longer in active development" due to signature requirements in newer Radeon cards, and cards after 6870 are no longer supported. Figures huh...AMD "unlocks" their CPUs but locks their GPUs! Go Figure. Thanks Sohaltang, I'm sure there has got to be a way to do it.

Of course nV has its own 200+Mb downloads for their drivers, so it's six of one and half of another in the case of perhaps unnecessary code within each. I used to use RivaTuner everything and thought it worked great. When support for it died I got used to the few settings offered in the nV...

Thank you very much. I installed both after uninstalling CCC and MOM and don't think I'm missing anything at all. In fact, after having spent the weekend pretty much glued to Process Explorer, I'd have to say that both CCC and MOM appear to be bloatware. Again, great advice and thank you.

This is one of the reasons I want the 7850, I believe it supports higher display resolutions than the nVidia cards I would normally consider...but are out of my price range. I got a very good deal on this 7850, it has a much better p/p ratio than any nVid card that I can, or cannot afford today...

Replacing my 9600GT with a GTX 280...

Yeah, I loved the performance of the 280, it rivals most mid-range cards in DX10 and 2D but in the end I couldn't get past the 230W draw in 3D, so I took it back today. Ebay has a ton of GTX 460's used and cheap, but I think I'll just wait for Black Friday and see if an HD 7850 can't come down...

Replacing my 9600GT with a GTX 280...

It was 75 bucks, it runs at GTX 285 speeds and with the 512-bit GDDR3 (at 160 GB/s) it renders 2D like a champ. I'm not a gamer so framerates aren't significant to me...I edit video and audio mostly. Plus, I believe a 128-bit bus (found on most cards in my price range today) will bottleneck...
